Information For Cefn Tilla Court

Cefn Tilla Court offers complete flexibility to couples getting married to make your day truly unique to you. We only offer a two day exclusive use package.

The House and title remained in the family until the last Lord Raglan’s death in 2010. At that time the house was inherited by Lord Raglan’s nephew Henry Van Moyland who lived in America. There were various claims made against the property but these were eventually dropped leading to the sale of the house by Van Moyland in 2015 to Robert Evans.

The property has undergone extensive renovations in an effort to restore the property to its former glory. The house is his home, but it is also an exclusive wedding venue. Several of the outbuildings and cottages on-site have been renovated to be used as luxury self-catering holiday cottages. Visitors to the house should be suitably impressed by its charm and grandeur for years to come.

Cefn Tilla Court
Emma who we meet at the venue could not have been more helpful, it’s both our second marriage and we want to do things different. Emma was receptive to our ideas and offered to provide us with all her support to make it happen .

Wedding of our dreams
We recently had the pleasure of getting married at Cefn Tilla Court. It's actually quite difficult to find the words to describe how wonderful this place is. The Staff here were exceptional, the care, passion and love shown for our special day was incredible and heart warming. We had to change the date of our wedding three times due to lockdown and restrictions which they were so helpful with. When we were struggling with ideas, or how to get around a problem, they stepped in (when they didn't need to) and helped us in any way they could, including sourcing a photographer who produced the most magnificent photos with just a few days to spare until the big day.
I wish we could do it all over again! An unforgettable day, and Cefn Tilla played such a huge part! Thank you so much!!! We cannot wait to see you again!!

Great Day, not so great pre- wedding experience.
a day agoNEW
We had our wedding at this venue in summer 2021. I can only speak from our own experience as a bridal party. I am leaving this review in the hope that it helps at least one person, or encourages a bridal party to ask more questions at the time of booking their wedding. Unfortunately, we have asked the venue to clarify our queries but they have refused to respond (the only response I received addressed me as a keyboard warrior).

Positive feedback:

1) On the actual day of the wedding the staff present were fantastic. They couldn't do enough for us given that they were extremely understaffed. They did a brilliant job in an impossible situation.

2) The venue is stunning and wowwed us and our guests from the start.

3) We had a lovely day! Photos say it all: a really truly happy day.

Feedback for improvement:

1) Before the wedding, emails were sent out to all our guests who had reserved accommodation at the venue inviting them to pay for accommodation for the wedding of a completely different bride and groom. Not a great start.

2) We arrived to set up the wedding venue (this was a DIY wedding and we had been told we had 48 hours to set up the venue in the contract). Wedding breakfast tables and chairs were visibly dirty with bird excrement and were black underneath from being placed in storage, however, table cloths proceeded to be placed over the tables. We had to ask for the tables and cloths to be deep cleaned and had to return the next day to set up decoration.

3) There is no operations team. The staff were nowhere to be seen during the set up/ take-down of decor at the venue- this has to be done entirely by friends and family of the bridal party.

4) The night before the wedding we were told that there is no fridge in the marquee to store wedding cake. We had to use one of the fridges in the self accommodation overnight. We were then billed for the use of the accommodation after the wedding. Further to this, we were charged a second amount for accommodation that we had already paid and had been given receipts for.

5) The marquee venue was so hot this summer given the heatwave. There is no air conditioning or any form of air circulation, and nothing was offered or suggested to us. We had to buy our own fans to use to circulate air so that our guests would be more comfortable sitting during the wedding breakfast. We also had to purchase and set up our own outside garden gazebos as shelter from the sun/ rain (the wedding took place during Covid restrictions and so we were encouraged to gather outside).

6) We had given names and ages of children who were to attend the wedding breakfast at least 2 weeks before the event however we had to provide our own high chair at the wedding breakfast for a 2 year old in our bridal party.

7) The night before the wedding (8pm) we were told that there would be no draft drinks available. Guests were instead charged a premium for bottled drinks.

8) We paid £6 pp for a non alcoholic drinks package for 6 guests which would contain a selection of elderflower juice drinks. On the day of the wedding these guests were told (before being given the drinks) that they had run out of elderflower drinks and were instead given water and lime cordial.

9) A bridesmaid arrived to her accommodation to find a dirty laundry basket (with dirty laundry inside) and a packet of partly used paracetamol and a mug left on the radiator. Luckily there were no children staying in the room.

10) We were rushed out of the venue at 10.30am on the morning after the wedding. When checking the contract we had signed it says that check out is at 12pm.

As I say, we can only speak from our own experience. We had a fantastic day, but there were many problems leading up to the wedding. I really hope the service has improved since our wedding day, as we paid full price for the venue but had to do a LOT of work ourselves. I hope that this feedback helps at least one future bridal party.
