The Real Wedding of Alix & Ash

Alix & Ash's Wedding Story

We looked at a few places close to home and further away. Ash loved the idea of getting married in Italy but the more we looked into it we decided against it as we wanted all of our closest friends and family there. When we visited Cave Castle we just loved the ceremony room and the grounds straight away. I’d always said I wanted to get married in a castle from being a little girl so it was perfect and right on our doorstep!

Our theme was Romantic - I saw loads of lovely ideas on pinterest that I wanted to copy. We had pink and cream roses with a little touch of greenery

Mum looked gorgeous in her outfit – it was a navy and white Condici dress with a jacket from Snooty Frox in Harrogate.

I was very excited and we had a lovely relaxed morning as we got married at 2.30pm. I thought I would be really nervous & emotional but I was just so excited to see Ash. The only time I felt really nervous was when I was being interviewed by the registrars and I could hear all of our guests waiting for me in the ceremony room. As soon as my brother (James Billany) came back into the room to walk me down the aisle I was fine again.

I had already had a sneaky peak at our wedding breakfast room & the cake earlier that morning – it was amazing to see a years worth of preparation come to life, I was so happy with how everything looked and Ash was shocked that ‘we’ had organised it all

The photos were great fun – our photographer Andy Crozier was absolutely amazing and slotted into the day like he was one of our guests

We just had one speech from my mums partner Tony. It was really lovely and very emotional.

Steve Jackson our DJ was absolutely fantastic. He kept our dance floor filled throughout the night. We hadn’t planned to do a first dance but straight after the cake cutting we were straight on the dance floor to Pinks ‘Get The Party Started’ remix.

We went to the Seychelles 2 days after the wedding and it was truly amazing. We had 2 weeks of relaxation – much needed after all the wedding planning.

Top tip(s) for other brides:

1. I wish I’d known that the little details really don’t matter so much, on the day all that matters is you and your groom and your closest family and friends

2. Do as much as you can in advance so you don’t have a mad rush in the last couple of weeks to get things sorted. This should be your time to get excited, not stressed!
