Hi fellow brides, Has anyone else ordered canapés as apart of their package? Ours are quoted at £433 for 55 people but I am thinking whether they are necessary and I could spend the money elsewhere. What are people's thoughts? xx

We were offered canapés and turned them down as we didn't see the point x

We automatically get canapés in our package. It's a set price so can't opt out of them however we had them at last wedding I went to and they were a really nice touch so I'm pleased to be having them x

We were quoted a price that I thought was very expensive too. As much as I wanted too we just could not afford it, so we have not ordered them. Guests will just have to wait a bit longer to be feed as we are feeding them twice anyway, a 3 course meal and evening buffet x

We're having a BBQ and thought we would have canapes for when people arrived at the reception venue to fill the gap until BBQ food out an hour or so later. Having read this thread I'm thinking I can save money by putting out crisps & dip on the tables and maybe just have a few platters of sandwiches which would be way cheaper but stave off the hunger.

We're having canapés, just because I feel I want to keep people fed, so they don't get drunk lol. We have 100 guests, but only having canapés for 80

I think as long as the wait time between the reception and the meal time isn't too long then you can go without but remember people arrive to your ceremony, sit through that then either have a journey to the reception or a wait time until dinner and it's not ideal for guests to be hungry! xx

It really depends what time you are getting married. We are getting married at 2pm and the meal will probbaly be at 4.30pm as we are doing speeches pre-meal. I think it's nice to give your guests a little nibble whilst they're having a celebratory drink and you're having your wedding photos taken plus it soaks up some of the alcohol! We went to a wedding recently and they didn't have canapes and come the meal which was around 5pm everyone was ravenous and eating the bread rolls for the soup as soon as they sat down so I personally would give canapes but of course it's all dependent on budget! Could the venue not offer a cheaper canape selection?
