Hello! My H2B had originally set a date for September 2019 but we realise that we can have our dream venue (which was out of our budget) at a huge discount if we have it before the end of February 2018 which gives us 6 months to plan etc. Is this too little time? Has anybody else had a short term wedding?

We're planning ours in 6 months! If the venue includes food and you're not wanting a designer dress (which can takes months to arrive nevermind alterations) then it's actually not as hard as you would assume!

First time round I managed to plan everything on a budget and in 13 weeks so 6 months is more than enough time if you get to have the venue you really want :) Good luck!

No way. It's fun arranging last minute. We did ours from point of booking to date of wedding only 16 weeks. It's great!

I've pretty much sorted my wedding in two months. It's not for another 11 months but I have 4 months of revision to do so wanted it out of the way. Anything is possible x x

My ex husband and I organised our whole wedding in less than 2 months x

6 months is plenty of time. The only thing you will struggle with is a dress as they can take upto 8 months to arrive (not including alterations) ring round different stores and see what their waiting time is, or try somewhere like wed2b where you take your dress home the same day xx

I got engaged at new year and married at the end of July. I brought off the rack for all outfits but I knew what I wanted so it was pretty straight forward to plan (though we did move house 4 weeks beforehand!!!!!)

It is possible, anything is possible if you put your mind to it. We booked our wedding with 18 months to plan then found out we were expecting so decided to have the baby before any planning, soon after baby arrived Christmas did so said in the new year we would plan, it wasn't until end of Feb we knuckled down and we got marriaged 1st August. Good luck !

Me and my h2b only decided end of last month that we was going to get married middle of April, we have got just over 6 months and I have planned so much already, in the first month, it is I'll coming together really nicely. I went online for a checklist so I can see what I need to do and tick things off as I go along. Im not really doing it in any order but online it gives you a list and tells you when you should be doing things by, but I'm doing a lot of things before I need to! I'm really enjoying it all mainly because I know I haven't got a long time to go till the wedding you'll be fine, if it's your dream venue for a good price it's so worth it, we have got ours for half price because of the date we are having and it just makes it even better good luck! xxx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 24 Jul 2017

Yes we picked the date and said "I do" within 10 weeks crazy but worth it

My first wedding (church wedding) i planned in 5weeks and 4 days oh and i was 5 months pregnant at time so 6 months is a breeze enjoy your day xxxx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 24 Jul 2017

As long as you buy an off the rack dress as will be difficult to get alterations done 6 months is plenty of time get things booked as soon as possible and you will even have time to relax the month before can be more chaotic but best of luck sure it will be fab

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 24 Jul 2017

We got engaged in October 2016 and I got married on 3 June 2017 we booked the venue at the beginning of November so gave ourselves 7 months to plan our day was magical and perfect and we had everything we wanted go for it it is amazing how much you can plan in 6 months we had completed everything 3 weeks prior to the wedding xx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 24 Jul 2017

I planned ours in 6 months and it was a magical day. Everyone who attended though we spent a fortune and couldn't believe how beautiful it was. I say go for it... obviously it helps if you are an organised person. Good luck xx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 24 Jul 2017

I did my whole wedding in 5 months, I booked in the July for a November wedding and that was without a package I had to do it all myself, it's more than doable, in fact I spent the last 2 months with nothing to do

Amanda Cosgrove

We essentially did that because we'd had to change plans a few times and thought "let's just do this"
My only advice is to not be too fussy

UKbride Administrator

Rebecca Taylor
Rebecca Taylor 24 Jul 2017

DO it! Mine is in March, but when I booked it I had everything basically planned after 3 or 4 months... now I just want to be married now!! 6 months is doable- just might have to look somewhere like Asos or Boohoo for a dress (they now do cheap ones but come as standard sizes, rather than bridal shops who order in and have to fit) x

A friend of mine did everything in less than three weeks and married the day after Boxing Day a few years ago - so it can be done.... good luck xx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 24 Jul 2017

It's completely possible as long as you have the money to pay for everything you need/want within the 6 months. Just make sure you delegate things out to other people to do and organise so that you don't take too much on all by yourself x

Update: Dresses bought (one short one and a long skirt /train that goes over it for the day) from Wed2be, wedding suit bought, cake ordered, venue paid for, rings chosen. All done on my own, as I wanted. H2B came with me for my dress shopping. Exciting!! X
