Try Zovirax cream. It usually makes them go away quite quickly.

If you use the many creams and treatments they have I should think it'll go away by then lol my partner and dad gets them and they last a week the most

It should go within 2 weeks if you use something. I get them and they're stressful, it's my biggest fear coming up to my day. Try Holland and barratt lysine tablets and ointment. They work very well!

Take vitamins and eat foods with lots of antioxidants in like strawberry etc. Avoid Citrus type foods. I don't think the creams are very good to be honest. Lynsine is supposed to help. Plenty of rest and avoid stress xxx

Slice fresh garlic in half and rub. It'll sting but it'll go fast.

Go to doc and get a course of anti viral tablets, they will heal it quicker and prevent it from spreading! They may hesitate to prescribe them but explain your wedding is coming up!

I work in a pharmacy and any generic aciclovir cream will do the job. Galpharm is the brand that we stock and at £2.49 it's about a third of the price of Zovirax.

Echo what everyone else says and don't be tempted to pick at it! Xxx

It will go in a few days! Amazing tip I learned recently (after having coldsores most of my life): wrap an ice cube in a tissue & press to the sore till the ice melts. This helps it heal loads faster xx

There is tablets from holland and Barrett which make them go much faster and stop you getting them in the future x

Should be ok in about a week. Take l-lysine tablets (sell them in Holland and Barrett.) They do a cream/ointment in it too. X

Zovirax, a good diet of fresh fruit and veg for the vitamin boost, lots of fluids (i.e. Water!) and rest, they sometimes pop up when you're stressed. I hope it clears in time and congratulations! 🥂

Soak a cotton wool ball in some milk and hold it on the cold sore for 10 mins a few times a day and that should heal it quick. It works when I do it

I've suffered from cold sores since I was young, the best thing to do is use something like Boots cold sore lotion on it (stings a bit but best potion I've found for them!) I find Zovirax and creams make it stay longer personally. Try not to touch it unless you are putting meds on it as it could spread. Also cold, used tea bags on it for 10 mins help too! Most usually go in about 8 days as long as you dry it out (sounds yucky I know!) so the boots lotion is perfect for that. X

UKbride Administrator 14 Jul 2017

Zovirax always makes mine worse I use coconut oil and sometimes tea tree oil. If it gets really bad the Dr or pharmacist prescribe me aciclovir tablets.x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 14 Jul 2017

Go to your doctor and ask for aciclivoir! It's the active ingredient in creams that comes in tablet form. I am currently taking a 5 day course for my horrendous 3!! Also, lots of vitamin c but avoid acidic fruit so take supplements. Hope that helps x

Go to the doctor and ask for anti virals (aciclovir) it's the quickest treatment, I had two the other day and they both went down in two days and went by 5 days! Take lots of vitamins and avoid chocolate!

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 14 Jul 2017

Best advice I can give is DONT TOUCH!! (Unless you're applying cream) I've had them for years and it was a huge fear leading up to my wedding. Two weeks is enough time for it to heal as long as you don't pick or knock it.

I used to get cold sores regularly. Go to boots and spend £30 on a cold sore zapper and some patches. Touch wood I've not had one in 3 years of using my zapper. Creams don't work half as effective. The patches stop the air getting to then which is feeds them and causes them to spread. Good luck x

This happened to me a few days before our wedding!! I'm sure your's will heal in time but if it doesnt I used compeed patches and had one on on the big day and applied my make up over it! No one could tell and you can't tell on any photos! Good luck! Xx

Zovirax and the cold sore patches which you can leave on all night to keep the cold sore 'wet' so it heals up quickly

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 14 Jul 2017

Don't waste your money on zovirax, use superdrug own brand, it has exactly the same ingredients. Also L-lysine an amino acid supplement and Zinc tablets. I also read garlic is very good but I haven't tried that. I've suffered with them for years

UKbride Administrator

I get cold sores ALL THE TIME when I am a bit run down. So annoying, but the things that really work for me are not picking it at all (those patches are good for stopping you being tempted), Zovirax and Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. It smells really weird but it heals things up so fast, my latest cold sore was gone within a week because I kept constantly applying it.

L lysine from holland and barratt. Its an amino acid. One a day clears coldsores and acne up and keeps it at bay.x

Nothing but aciclovir will get rid. You can get this cream at any chemist etc.
Apply 4-5 times a day and wash hands before and after. Do not touch, pick, scratch etc. However hard that is. They can scar quite easily.
You could also try talking to your doctor to get aciclovir tablets but they probably won't prescribe if it's your first one.
If I gets very painful or itchy you could try ice and or paracetamol. Hope it clears up soon. They are usually a sign of stress so try and relax. Easier said than done I know at a stressful build up to wedding day xx

UKbride Administrator 15 Jul 2017

I got one too about 2 weeks before my wedding. It will be stress. Best thing to do is try not to stress (trust me it really isn't worth it) and keep it moisturised as it is easier to cover with makeup if it isn't crusty. Xx

Compeed patches!!!!! Stops it going crusty!!!!

Hi you can get cold sore plasters they are clear and they clear the cold sore up within 2 days of putting it on and nobody sees the plaster x

Had cold sores since I was tiny so I feel your pain. The best thing I have found is Sudocrem because I'm allergic to a lot of coldsore creams/lotions. Also, apply any cream with a clean cotton bud. This will ensure you don't accidentally touch another part of your face & get another coldsore.
