Print the forms online and submit them yourself. Costs £475 but that's everything, no expensive solicitors needed. I did it last year x

The cheapest way to get a divorce is to do it yourself. Fill in the forms available on government website, but it will take a few months, as you are at the will of the court system. If you want it done quickly then you need a solicitor, but this will cost you extra on top of the standard fees.

Speak with a solicitor (you can do this free with most firms as a consultation) as there's something to say if you've tried to file for a divorce numerous times over the 10 years but the other party has not accepted it/signed papers etc then you can just divorce them without them needing to sign anything because you've tried to file.

Took me 7yrs to get my divorce as my ex kept moving. Speak to a solicitor, most offer 30mins free consultations. You may find it is very straight forward as you have been seperated for so long. I didn't even know where my ex was when I applied for mine.

I called my local divorce court and they posted me the forms. Cost us somewhere between £400 and £500. The whole process only took 3 months from start to finish so it was done quite quickly :) I didn't use a solicitor.

File under abandonment. Fill in the paperwork yourself. No need for a lawyer.

I did it all myself with no solicitors involved. As long as you follow all the guidelines then there's no problem. If you do fill the boxes incorrectly the courts will keep returning them to you and this takes time. Just have a nice peaceful area and get someone to read over them once completed.

I just went to the courts and got the divorce papers within 6 months divorce was finalised not having solicitors involved made it quicker as they tend to take forever as the longer it takes the more money they make.

Hi, I'm just in the process of doing my own divorce, we have been separated for 6 1/2 years. It is straightforward, but you need to know his address to serve the papers to him. Good luck

I believe if you have been living apart for 5 years then you do just need to submit the forms and there should be no problem. Or you could go for one of those first half hour free legal consultations.I'm sure that there will be something to guide you through the process online Mine was complicated and took nearly 2 years in and out of court.
