I'm going to my first appointment at my hopefully venue tonight. It is a package deal. I'm new to all this. Anyone got any pointers of things to ask? Thanks

Ask about whether the numbers of people allowed at the service include yourself, registrars, musicians etc. That one nearly caught us out.

Ask exactly what the package includes: whether it includes table cloths, cutlery and glassware. Whether there are any hidden costs such as corkage charges, service charges, whether they ask you to book so many hotel rooms for the night. Also ask about how many people are included. Also if they allow you to use real candles for decorations as some places don't. I hope this helps and good luck!

Also ask what time you can get married from and when you all have to leave at the end of the evening. If there is anything you are not allowed and what their availability is for your chosen date. Good luck and enjoy x

We had a package deal and it's so much easier- so many things ticked off the list!

It's worth asking about how much extra guests will cost, whether they're happy for you to take food in (e.g. Alcohol/ biscuits etc as favours) and my friend had trouble arranging a cake of cheese (her venue would only allow her to do this by paying through them which was theee times the cost). Also ask about licences for any live music (this might affect volume and times they must finish by). We also negotiated some swaps which our venue was fabulous about e.g. We didn't want their bridal suite as old fashioned, and we chose to have different welcome drinks.

Good luck and enjoy! X

My advice is make a notepad of any questions you want and take the time to ask eveyone and fill it in.
You can then sit down at home after with no distractions and read through again with no pressure. X

We went to our first meeting with our venue last weekend. I went with a list of questions but to be honest by the time the venue lady had run through everything there were barely any questions left.
We mostly talked about the running of the day/timings, food/fussy eaters, how we'd like to decorate, bar opening closing times etc.
How that helps xx

Write down questions as you will be so excited ( I was looking around everywhere my mind was blank ) you come away thinking I wanted to ask this , this etc

have a look on google for essential questions to ask and write in a note pad to take with you, you will be so busy looking around u may forget some questions usually they cover all as they show u round but u can make notes and ask any questions missed at the end.

Ask if there will be another wedding on at the venue the same day and if so will there be any clashes,
double check you are allowed your own cake with out extra charges,
are the chairs to be covered if so is that in package or do you have to pay extra.
Good luck! X

Ask if they have minimum numbers on the package deal. We are required to have 80 for day and 120 for evening but I only want 60 for the day. I have to pay for 80 regardless but they are using the money to pay for different things for me that would cost extra so the money doesn't go to waste x
