Were you surprised when your partner proposed? Or did you propose??

Hi Rebecca I was really surprised my fiance asked my parents to come stay with us for Christmas, he asked my parents permission first. He told me to stay in bed so he could ask them I thought he was kidding then I noticed my parents had their phones out to photograph us . I couldn't believe it for days. :)

I was surprised by my fiancé when he ask me he got me a iPod for my birthday I was so grateful at the iPod that I miss the engraving on the back for about 20 minutes till I found mandy will you marry me on the back of my new iPod

My partner had always told me he would never get married due to being hurt in a previous engagement.. He also said it was a waste of time.. Then on Xmas eve he proposed at our local pub using secret santa!! After I found out her had spoken to my mum earlier in the day to ask her.

I got engaged on 13.6.16
I had an idea that it was coming in the not too distant future but had no idea how or when he would do it. When I got home from work and walked into the kitchen to find him on 1 knee with a lovely dinner cooking I jumped up and down; I was so excited! I liked the fact that it didn't come completely out of the blue but I still had the surprise of how/when 😊

I was surprised. I thought he was joking. He'd been on at me all day to go to a BBQ at a local beauty spot (we had our first date there which was a BBQ) I moaned all day as I was 7 month pregnant and it wasn't even hot he was adamant for us to go so we went. Then he was like 5 years ago to the day we had our first ever date and he pulled out a box. I looked at him and said shut up are you serious?! Then I got up and ran because our 18 month old decided to do a runner it's not romantic to a lot but it is to me. It was thoughtful and he involved our little boy x

I proposed to my partner by getting him to do a treasure hunt. When we got to the end, i gave him a gift box. Inside was a packet of love hearts. Throughout them they said will you marry me? Took me ages to find them lol. He was gobsmacked n wasnt expecting it. He said yes lol. Then 2 weeks later, we went on holiday to paris n i faced my fears n climbed the eiffel tower. At the top he proposed right back xxx

Very surprised. We were on holiday and I was too busy looking out at NYC from the Empire State Building. Proposals was the last thing on my mind, even though I had been hinting for years lol

Gobsmacked! We had talked for 4 years about our future but it was still so unexpected! He spent 3 months planning it, got my parents permission and involved all our friends. He knew I didn't want a cliche proposal so he waited until Halloween and presented me with this.....

I proposed to my partner on the beach on a day out. He was really surprised obviously as it's not often the woman proposes to the man but that's why I did it I wanted to surprise him and wanted to be different as we did everything else backwards. Good job I did it when I did or a few months later and I would have ruined his plans I did hint to him but we always have talked about getting married and our wedding so he didn't even notice x

Yes and no. I knew he was going to do it at some point and actually thought it would be when we went to Florida in February 2015 but he did it
New Year's Eve 2014 after asking my mum and dad for permission. It was lovely ☺️ xx

I proposed to him in the spur of the moment. I'd planned a big proposal for September but there was a moment while we were out in our garden and he was teaching me constellations and it was just the right moment to do it. He said yes and then bounced around telling my housemates.

I asked my husband every day for 3 years to marry me it kind of became a joke thing just randomly in the day id say "so you gonna marry me then?" And he'd always reply "one day love" hehe we talked about having a long engagement then nothing. He eventually asked me in an Italian restaurant next to her majesty theatre in London just before we went to see phantom of the Opera my favourite show I can't even tell u what he said because I was shocked and can't remember hehe but I do remember him sliding the ring box across the table. Was beautiful xx

I was shocked when my husband proposed at a party I had thrown for his 50th....we had spoken about getting married 'one day' but it was 2nd time round for both of us.....and I had spent months organising his birthday party and he turned it all round on me by proposing half way through the evening....i was in shock for days but it was caught on video and it's something I will treasure for a long time xx

I was totally shocked! I thought he was joking at first. He had all my close friends there and had tricked me into thinking it was a Santorini reunion night when we all went for a meal. We then all took a walk through the Cathedral grounds and that's when our song started playing and everyone circled us and he asked me! Was very emotional and everyone was in tears! So lucky that my friends were there and they all filmed it, I can't watch the video without crying everytime!

He got down on one knee out the blue after a walk, i didnt even see him do it as i turned around and noticed him him there i was in shock and I asked him if he was joking cause it was a big shock lol he said to me it was coming soon before hand but i didnt know how soon. he had been waiting for my ring over 3 weeks until it came and now i cant wait to marry him next year in may :)

Very surprised - was walking around the top of the Empire State and it was really windy - he was adamant he wanted a photo of us. Gave the camera to a lovely couple who didn't realise it was actually recording. He went down on one knee and I thought he was tying his shoelaces until I saw the ring box so glad we have a video of it xxxx

We were sat having coffee in Telford shopping centre while Christmas shopping. I was going through the list of shops still to visit when he said 'we had better visit a jewellers too'. Being slow on the uptake I replied 'am I picking my Christmas pressie?' To which he replied ' I think it's time for me to buy you a ring for your left hand'. I was speechless!!! That was in 2015 and we are now starting to plan our wedding in 2019 ️

My fiancé proposed whilst visiting the village of Froggatt (same as my surname) in Derbyshire, as I wanted to go to have a photos next to the signs. It's a beautiful picturesque village and we were walking around and he proposed to me on Froggatt's Bridge. I responded with are you serious before saying yes as I never expected it at all! He couldn't have picked a more thoughtful place!

My husband asked me to marry him the night I brought our daughter home. Now been married a year in July.

Very surprised we had only been together 8 months.. He proposed on Xmas day night before bed, mind I've never seen a man look so scared and nervous haha ...

We were at winter wonderland in London in the ice kingdom, I was taking the mick saying he looked liked the ice troll sculpture, he then started talking to me about how much he loved Me, I walked off as thought he was going to start taking the Mick back he later proposed just outside winter wonderland, was not expecting it all was a lovely surprise and made the trip to London even more special

Not really. He'd got me measured and been asking my opinion on rings for months. I didn't expect him to propose when he did though!

Yes. He did it on Christmas morning. During a game of pass the parcel. Obviously me being the one to open the prize after all our children got their lollies in between :) the two eldest in on it! Such a lush way to propose. I did think pass the parcel was an odd request but because he lost his mum the year before I wondered if it was some family tradition and went along with it!! We got married 2nd July 2016 was a beautiful day :) This pic with us and the children!

We'd been talking about marriage and children but I didn't know he was going to ask when he did. He proposed in our bedroom, in the house we now own, 2 weeks before it was officially ours. It's also where we had our "first date" (I've known the man since we were 10 so first date is more like 10th!) I thought it was very romantic as that house now holds a lot of special memories. We get married on 132 days! ❤

Total surprise, Waikiki beach sunset on our 9th anniversary. The romantic thought was there. If anyone has been to Hawaii they'll know that the beach at sunset is heaving, surfers, families and homeless people. He said shall we go back and tell everyone we got engaged, I slowly turned to him thinking 'why the f**k would we do that, when I noticed a familiar little blue box. I said yes of course, who could say no to Tiffanys. Like I said not romantic like it was supposed to be but we have a funny story to tell people which is much more us xx

My h2b at Christmas 2014 presented me with a gift bag with a tulip bulb in with a tag saying guess where we are going. He knew I wanted to go back to Amsterdam as it's my favourite city. 4 months later we went to Amsterdam and when we got to the hotel ,checked in and out our bags in the room he got down on one knee as he was too excited to wait to do it later in the break. However the next day we picked a ring and he proposed again on a bridge and a couple kindly took our photo - I'll cherish it forever 🤵

I knew it was coming, I just didn't know exactly when. We were at a convention, dressed up as 2 characters from a show we like at the time! I cried, a lot!

It was my birthday week and I thought we had booked for a weekend in the campsite around the road from our house. Instead he had booked a week away in Nice, France and I was so shocked at that, that the thought of a proposal didn't even cross my mind. We took the train into Nice and walked along the beach and he went down on one knee I thought he needed to tie his shoe lace and he asked the question after 7 years together one of the best days of my life x

i met my partner in january 2016 ,on valantines day 2016 i proposed to him,i felt so embarrased because he said no not yet,later that night we went out for the night and on the way home he said he was stupid i said why he said he should of said yes to me because he loved me,so he asked me then and i said yesi rang my best friend and went to her house and she told him she would lend him a plastic ring till he got me one so he got on one knee and asked me again and we set a date for 10th june 2017 to marry which was my 50th birthday, unfortunatly we hadnt enough money then so we put the wedding back till september ,money is still tight but we are doing it on the cheap hes a brilliant man and my kids love him to bits ,were so happy x

He actually had thrown me a surprise bday party and got all my friends and family together. Then just as I'd finished being shocked and crying over that, he said " just one more thing" put his hand out and my daughter dropped a ring into his hand " will you marry me?"
As you can see, I was o shocked I just sat down on the steps I was standing on.

My eldest daughter gave it away about 20 minutes before haha so no I wasn't surprised

We had been looking at rings on holiday in Mallorca which in itself wasn't unusual, then a few days later he proposed in the evening in Mallorca with the ring I had fallen in love with, it was completely unexpected

Complete surprise. My other half is very sarcastic and takes the mick a lot. We have a daughter together so he knows being married is important to me so I assumed he was taking advantage of that and winding me up as normal. Genuinely expected a pair of earrings or something as it was Valentine's day with my birthday a few days later but it really was a ring! Wish I'd have believed him from the off instead of wasting the whole time telling him to stop taking the piss

Me and my partner was in Crete last year when he proposed. Its was the night before our 7 years anniversary together. I was in total shock that I told him to f off as I didn't believe him lol he said to me "Nic will you come back to Crete and marry me". In 9 months we fly to Cyprus (instead of Crete) and get married on the 29th March. I can't wait to marry my best friend, my rock.

I had no idea! it was my birthday on our first holiday in Tenerife and we had booked a 5* restaurant on the beach and I bought a new dress and he asked me to get ready in the bathroom so he could just see me after i was ready rather than watch me get ready.. and when i was ready he took me on the balcony where the ring/box was with a bottle of champagne and 2 glasses and asked me :) he secrelty filmed the whole thing on a go pro too so we have lovely views on the video as we were booked into a beachside hotel and on the top floor!

This was my proposal how could I refuse that
