Hi I am getting married next August and have the same budget, try to stick to it or close to it there are lots of budget items you can buy that will not break the bank :)

Yes absolutely! Best tip I can offer is set up a free wedding website so you don't need to send paper invites which can get expensive. Your guests can just RSVP online.

Yep. Remember that all you need is each other, the legal bit and witnesses. Everything else is just trimmings. http://www.emmaandrich.co.uk/you-dont-need-to-spend-loads-to-have-an-awesome-wedding/

I'm getting married this August and the majority of the wedding has cost us 5000. I have spent over that in little bits and pieces which are extras not necessities...plus I am making all the flowers which has cost more than actually buying some...lol...u can do it...look in wed2b for ur dress..their most expensive dress is 699 I think and they have beautiful dresses xxx

If you have a charity that you like try to see if they do a wedding range. We are going to use Macmillan (unfortunately my mum died of cancer) they do stuff like wedding invites and place names. 10 invites for £6.99. Also why not try to get a social club, village hall for venue rather than a posh hotel, get your dress and the bridesmaids from a high street store rather than a wedding dress shop. Ask friends to use their skills to help rather than them getting you a wedding present. If you have a friend whose a good singer ask them to sing as your entertainment, a friend who does flower arranging to do flowers etc. Do a buffet rather than sit down meal.

Yes it is easy done, we done ours for £3500, got a load of stuff on Amazon and ebay, gifts for everyone, cake topper, centre pieces, bridesmaids dresses and flower girl dress etc. X

Yes it is, I did it. Most was diy decorating, my friend made my cake. My dress was a bargain and I found a lovely but not pricey venue. I paid for bridesmaids dresses and got from a brill website. Only things which I overpaid for was wedding car coz my dad needed special seating due to hip ops and my flowers which I loved. Even so it came in budget of £5k

We did our wedding for less than £5000. We made our own favours for the ladies and bottles of whisky for the men. My mum made my cake topper. Shop around and look for offers. We got married in November and got deals from the hotel and photographer and florist because they were quiet at the time of year.

Something like a social club and doing youre own food. Late ceremony so you wont have to do a lunch as well as dinner. Bying fake.flowers instead if real making youre own center pieces and decorating youreself. Making your own cake. .

A large deciding factor is first number. You can have a lovely wedding for less simply by keeping it small.

I got married in a barn, fire pit dj the works with a hog roast and drinks package for everyone for about 4500 so its deffo achievable. U need to work out the legal costs first and go from there....its all about deciding whats important to your day and what isn't and spending on what is and saving/budget what isnt. Im pretty craft though so i made alot my things xx

We did ours for just under £5k. Had a castle ceremony (on a Saturday, 25th June last year) a 3 course wedding breakfast, disco in the evening, photographer, videographer, flowers, cake, favours, dresses, suits, the lot. Shop around and it's amazing the savings you can make. Good luck xx

We saved money by making our own flowers for the bouquets then using them in a tall vase as part of our table centrepieces. Also, after our registry office we booked a private room in a restaurant for our meal. We had our reception another night!

Yes, I had a great day. Hotel venue, all the trimmings, dress, cake, honeymoon, everything and the total cost of my day was £3500 with a 2 week honeymoon in. Just got to shop around, see ideas and then use Amazon/eBay and a bit of your own time to replicate. Its amazing what you can get that looks great for a fraction of the price.

We have a budget of £3,500, although I think we may end up just over that by a couple of hundred. The church and food is our main expense totalling £600, £700 for a hogroast and about £350 for our buffet. Our reception venue is run by a charity as it's an old station building so that was only £200 for three days hire, my mum and dad bought my dress, and the rest were doing ourselves. Our DJ is £200, our bar is free (£50 deposit that you get back on the day) and my aunty is doing our flowers it's 100% possible! Just make sure you know exactly what you want and work out what you can and can't do yourself. My bridesmaids have purchased their own dresses.

Depending on what part of the country U are in it's very easy to stick to that budget.

We are currently planning our wedding as on a tight budget we are getting married on a weekday and skipping the wedding breakfast and just having a late afternoon ceremony then straight onto the evening with hot and cold buffet , dj, photo booth and decorating it ourselves with candles and bunting and balloons e.c.t x

Have you all included your honeymoon within your budget, or is that on top of?

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 22 Jun 2017

If you're happy to do diy decorations, bouquets etc, or have friends and family that can help then it's very doable. We were lucky we got a great deal for our venue and meal, otherwise we would have gone for a later ceremony and a buffet instead of a sit down meal which would have saved a lot of cost as well. You just have to sit down and figure out what you can make yourself and what you need to pay someone else to do, anything you decide to make yourself I would start now as it gives you a head start in it all and you're not rushing around trying to get everything last minute. X

Our budget was the same (but we went over slightly). It is possible to do but I'm not sure how in the summer months tbh :-/ most venues put a minimum spend on during the wedding season so that they get the most they possibly can! We're getting married in March and there's no minimum spend but for 48 day guests and 60 evening guests it's coming to approx £3450! With the dress, suits, decorations, etc, it's adding up to approx £5800 atm! :-/ oops!

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 22 Jun 2017

Our wedding cost no more than 1500 including afternoon reception and evening meal, and the day was perfect, it isn't the cost thats important it is the reason why your getting married that is :-)

I'm getting married in 2 months and I have done my whole wedding for £1500. So if I can get mine that low. You can certainly do it for your wedding. I'm doing my own decorations and I haven't bothered with a wedding coordinator. We have a free venue and we are getting married at a registry office. And I got my dress off eBay for 60 and want to oasis for the bridemaids dresses. We are getting our cake from slatteries and we are having a DJ. The cars for 3 hours is costing us £270 if you shop around you will get some good deals.
