Wedding Insurance???

Hi, I am planning my wedding for 2022 and have booked a date. I’m trying to find wedding insurance but can’t seem to find any. I can only find one company who won’t cover for any businesses going bust due to Covid. I wondered if anyone else had had any joy? Thanks, Nicola

You wouldn't need insurance for cancellation due to COVID. if a company goes bust, they have to give you a refund. I get married in 2022 and I've worried about the same thing but after speaking to my venue they have assured me that I will get a full refund. At the moment though, I am only paying deposits until I have to start paying everything in full. At least if anything was to happen, you're only losing a small amount rather than thousands because you've started paying it off too early x

A lot of companies are just not insuring right now because of covid. Your best bet might be to hold off on booking anything with big deposits until you can get insurance, and see whether there are some more quotes about in 6 months or so. I got mine with debenhams which did cover pandemics but that was before all of this started, and I know they have put a hold on starting new covers

Sorry this doesn’t answer your question but try to pay any deposits on a credit card. Even if you only paid your deposit using your credit card, credit card companies offer protection up to £30,000 under Section 75. For example even if you only paid £1000 of the £10,000 due to your venue using your credit card - you would be covered for the £10,000 if the venue went bust. I hope that helps!

I’m getting married in 2022 and am holding off in the main on paying/buying anything else until we can get insurance but like others have said if you need to, credit card it maybe 🙂 xx

My venue recommended covermywedding.co.uk who are still doing new policies during Covid so I went with them x

From looking into wedding insurance I’ve decided it’s not necessary, I’m making sure to make a payment for each thing on my credit card and that seems to offer the same protection as insurance would.

A lot of companies are doing (decent) new insurance claims for a while. I'd try looking cloawr to your date then hopefully they'll be better

I took mine out with debenhams, I spoke with them on the phone a couple of weeks ago and they told me they will move my date for cover as we had to postpone if we didn't claim, but if we did claim for monies lost they wouldn't be giving out any new policies for the new date as of yet, but he said it looks like they will be offering them from January/February time but there will be changes to contracts and to carefully read the small print before buying so if I was you I would wait to buy it next year x

Hi. I checked last night and cover my wedding.co.uk is doing it. They are insuring up to June 22 right now, I am July so can’t get it just yet xx

Insurance companies should start to sell new policies soon as lockdown begins to lift, your wedding is quite far off so you probably don't need to worry about it just yet, though it's possible that they won't cover if you cancel because of COVID, it only counts if the venue cancels, there have been horror stories of venues refusing to cancel during the crisis so they don't have to refund the couples, however insurance does cover things like if one of the couple is sick, injured, or dies right before the wedding

We pulled the plug for Dec 2020 due to c virus and no idea when to re book as too much risk with no insurance & no guarantee on business surviving etc

Emerald wedding insurance xx

Most insurance companies aren’t offering it atm due to COVID. Give it a few months and then try again. I’d definitely get insurance though xxx
