Save the date do’s and don’ts

Do you send a “Save the date” to both day and evening only guests? And if so, would you indicate which part they’re invited to?

No only day guests as we were worried it might be misleading to just evening guests

We done both and then we got both times on day ones and evening ones so there was no misunderstanding x

I did save the date and save the evening cards as it was a bank holiday weekend in August... sadly now postponed

UKbride Member 3 Jun 2020

UKbride Member 3 Jun 2020

You do a save the date and save the evening cards 🙂 a lot don’t do the evening ones but it’s a great way for people to plan ahead

We just did a face book invitation as the save the date as most of our friends are on their and text the others. Set up one for day and one for evening in order to make the details clear. Once we got peoples reply we were able to add others to the invite. Then 4 months before sent the official invitations out. Saved a lot of money and waste of time.

Original day/evening invites sent out so when save the dates went out it was same place same time different date x

Never bothered with Save the date invites cos of the expense but everyone is different

UKbride Member 3 Jun 2020

I didn't send any save the date as mine was only a year away,I just told close family and friends then send formal invites out at 8 months x

UKbride Member 3 Jun 2020

i sent mine to day guests only, they are the ones that are going to have to take time out of work to come for the whole day.

I just sent save the dates to my day guests

UKbride Member 3 Jun 2020

We just sent one save the date to everyone and then sent separate evening and all day invites. It just meant people could keep that date clear

UKbride Member 3 Jun 2020

We never sent them out we just sent out invitations and asked them to advise if they would come or not but we did do it all within 8 months so probably got away with it x

I’m not sending save the dates because they’re having the invites sent 18mths before the wedding due to it being an abroad wedding. They’re having more then enough time😁😁

UKbride Member 3 Jun 2020

We did save the date to both, but we designed sepaerate ones with separate times on them depending on day or evening guests xx

I sent a save the date to all of my day and night guests and a handful of them booked accommodation assuming it was a whole day thing.. was a bit awkward to be honest

UKbride Member 3 Jun 2020

I sent to both and didn’t indicate what the invites will be for as that’s what the invite is for... Most people will have an idea anyway.

UKbride Member 3 Jun 2020

You can get save the dates (day guests only) and save the evening (evening guests only). If only bother with the evening ones if there's people you want to give plenty of notice to be there x

UKbride Member 4 Jun 2020

We did save the date to day guests and Facebook for everyone. Xx

I have never understood save the date, why not just an invite if they are invited? X

UKbride Member 7 Jun 2020

For the weddings I’ve been invited to (full day and evening do) I’ve never received a save the date. We just know the person well enough to be told the date of their wedding in person! Once they’ve told us it’s booked, it goes in the calendar

We are getting married in September (26th). Our save the dates only went out to day guests back in November. We was due to send out evening invites start of April but we have held off as we are still unsure of how many people will be allowed at the venue due to the current situation.
