We are looking at transport ideas to take our guests from the church to the reception venue. What have people used other than traditional coaches & is it an unnecessary expense to splash out on something different/quirky?

My sister had an old fashioned double decker bus for her wedding. It was perfect and defiently worth it! The guests loved it! It also made some great photos for the bride and groom later on x

It's a nice idea, but if you're on a budget I probably wouldn't do it if I were you. People often when accepting wedding invites understand that they have to arrange their own transport if they're not driving. It can be a massive ball ache to organise people as well. Entirely up to you of course. I think you can hire big Red double deckers, like the traditional London ones.

We were going to lay on a vintage red bus but it added £750 to our budget. We decided not to in the end

If it's within walking distance do a big conga line and make it fun

We didn't do it. If you're on a budget I wouldn't bother. Also, how are they getting to the church? Can they just leave their cars there or will they need to move them? If they cant leave their cars there are you going to have transport go round and pick everyone up from their houses? If they leave their cars at the church and take your transport to the venue, how will they get back to their cars from the venue? Too many questions! Good luck!

Vintage double decker bus! Church was 11 miles from venue tho and unknown so did it more for ease so people weren’t late or getting lost. All enjoyed and bridal cars for bridesmaids too and one for ushers arriving earlier. Plenty of room for 95 in total. X

We had an old vintage car from nottingham (we got married at st andrews prestwold) and had the hire of the car for as long as we wanted during the day. It was perfect and the company we used were terrific - cloud nine cars x

Yeah, we too looked at the vintage bus idea, but it was just too expensive and there were things we would rather have! Didn't pose a problem though. The only thing I wished we had thought about was how to get the bridesmaids between them, and realised the perk of a second wedding car!

We’ve got a double decker bus for around £700. We did it because our church is in the middle of a high street so 0 parking.. all of our guests are really excited about it!

At my cousin's wedding, they went for a tradition big red bus, which was really fun and memorable ☺️

My sister in law had everyone meet at the venue and then transported to the church unless they were needed at the church before hand for setting up etc.

We have got just a normal double decker for £350. Our reception is on private land with very restricted parking which is why we’ve decided to hire x

Most of our guests live in the local village so will walk or get someone to drop them to the bus station then we’ve got a coach picking them up to go to the venue then back to the main bus station leaving venue at 12/12:30am.The guests that live further away will drive and leave their cars at the venue and collect them in the morning x

You just click on “ask a question” at the top of your wall.
Thanks everyone for your input, we’ve been quoted £225 for a 49 seater so it’s going on hold for now!
