Favours and centre pieces

Me and my partner get married next year, but we cannot think of what to do for centre pieces or wedding favours. We don't really want sweets as favours as there are vegans and meat eaters so would get expensive trying to get enough for everyone.

Charity badges or lotto scratch cards x

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

This is probably going to sound cheap and tacky but I’ve got balloons as centre pieces. Purely because I don’t want my guests moving glass centre pieces and then breaking them. Plus the balloons can be kept at the end of the day or the kids can take them away that I have attending. I’ve not thought about favours. Hope this helps x

Depending what your theme is really. We are doing a mad hatters vintage tea party so we are going tea cups and tea pots with flowers in.

What about doing vases of coloured sand or lanterns?

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

seeds for bees for favours? x

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

We did a charity donation for our favours as nobody really wants a favour anyway 😂

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

How about a miniature and mixer with a glass. If not miniature a small bottle of wine and a glass. Don't have to be anything special glass or a plastic one. The bag/bottle can double up as a place card.

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

Wild flower seeds are nice favours

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

We had a caricature artist which doubled up as entertainment and favours as everyone got a picture to take home

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

We bought tiny corked bottles on Ebay and filled with our fav alcohol for a shot for each guest. Cost just over a £1 per guest in total, much cheaper than buying miniatures

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

What about charity pins from a charity that you might support?
For center pieces we had lace jars with floating candles and flowers x

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

We are doing sweet favours, makro do bags that are just vegan sweets wo we are buying a few bags of them then putting them in little jars. To be honest 99% of the sweets were what we was going to get anyway and this way everyone has the same x

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

We're having Disney themed objects as our centerpieces, like Aladdin's lamp, the rose in glass jar from beauty and the beast etc. And we have different pin badges from Macmillan as our favours as my MOH is currently fighting breast cancer so we wanted to spend the money on something that will make a difference. The other half is putting it in his speech that he wants everyone to put the pin badge on and why x

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

I made a wine glass charm and a mirror cat with our date and name on it x

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

We did Charity badges for the hospice that had looked after my mother-in-law in her last days

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

We had wild flower seed packets with our names and date on

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

For our wedding favors we’re giving the same thing to the men and the women...we have a limited budget and don’t want to be spending too much on favors that the majority of the time are a little pointless, so everybody is getting a lottery ticket each..inside a lottery ticket envelope (Ebay) which has a nice little quote on it and our names and date of wedding...then the week before the wedding we’ll just go and buy individual lottery tickets to put inside...easy..no stress involved! We were going to put lottery scratch cards inside but then thought that people will just scratch them off and leave their old scratch cards everywhere on the tables making a mess...lol..
We thought at least that way every person has a chance of winning something...if they win big tho they’d better go halves with us! Hahaha😂

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

We had a star wars theme wedding on 4th may and our favours was little Lego starwars character figures, we also did sweet cones. Why dont you do flower seeds, you can get small envelopes with your names and wedding date on and put some seeds in that will be in season to be planted around the time of your wedding so that they can grow some little flowers ect and will be a lovely little reminder of your big day xx

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

We bought wee bags and are making tablet and wrapping a few pieces in paper then in the bag x

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

We did homemade jams, we picked fruit when it was in season and froze it until it was time to make it. Cheap, tasty and it’s only fruit and sugar, suitable for all!

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

We did charity pins as our favours.. it was fab as everyone put theirs on

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

Me and my husband had handmade soaps as favours my mum made them for us. Not difficult or expensive to make. ❤

They were beautiful x

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

Do charity favours ❤️ they are around 1-2 pounds each but all the money goes to charity and everyone gets a place name and you can personalise it to say your wedding date and let them know you’ve donated on their behalf to celebrate your wedding ❤️ xx

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

I make wedding favours

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

I did led tea lights in the favour boxes that are laser cut so they were like little lanterns. I did put a choc in too but you could leave that out. X

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

Cancer research do wedding favours, you pick what you want like a pin ot packet of flower seeds and you pick how much you want to pay for them and its a donation to their charity. Definitely worth a look. Or make your own place cards and the money you would have spent on favours donate to a charity of your choice x

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

I had small hearts with our names and wedding date on. Bought from Ebay x

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

I made mini candles (my business) for a friend for her wedding. 120 of them at a discounted price for her but still 120 of them worked out as £1 per candle. I did two scents one for men and one for women.
It was different and quirky as she never knew anyone to give out candles before

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

Here’s a video of my table set ups!
I didn’t want an over crowded table, as I was having wine etc on tables too.

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

Lights out video too!

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

We sent everyone a photo the photographer got of them on the day. It was a bit later, but everyone loved them as she got family/partners shots x

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

For our favours we got charity pins from the British Heart Foundation as this is a charity close to us, we also put collection boxes on each table for donations instead of presents ❤️

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

For our favours my fiancé and I have forget me not flower pins in memory of family we have lost to dementia. Centre pieces we have five top jars and five hurricane glasses which we are putting sea glass and flowers in. The kids have had a ball collecting sea glass each time we go to the beach!

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

I must be the only person who went with the traditional 5 sugared almonds to represent “health, wealth, happiness, fertility and long life”. They’re a keepsake, not meant to be eaten anyway. But I do like the idea of seeds for bees, or a charity donation pin.

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

They were very effective when all lit on the table. Good choice Jill Cunliffe xx

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

We used charity pins as favours. We did two charities that each meant something to us.

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

We never had favours we just donated to charity x

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

Leasa Kafizas I still have mine x

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

We are not doing favours. Its an unneccesary expense. Going simple for table centre pieces, got some log slices off facebook marketplace will use pillar candles of varying heights and a small vase of flowers on each.

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

Wat is colour scheme !
Wat month

UKbride Member 29 Jan 2020

Our theme is very gin based so we are doing gin minatures

UKbride Member 29 Jan 2020

We are donating to a local animal charity as personally didn’t want to spend money on things that would be just thrown away and rather give that money to a good cause xx

UKbride Member 29 Jan 2020

We had flavoured vodka shots in little mason jars with a personalised tag 🙂 with a poem on... it was different and good fun!! For the kids, we got our cake lady to make personalised cupcakes, with what they liked, e.g. captain America etc... xxx

UKbride Member 29 Jan 2020

I marria nigerian and they’re a little more extravagant with their favours (more like giant gift bags with loads of bits inside lol), but one of the favours we did was a mixtape cd with all the important songs from the wedding (aisle songs, first dance, cake cutting, etc). There was about 10 songs in total. We did it really budget lol. Bought a big stack of blank cds and plastic wallets from ebay. And then downloaded/burned the songs onto the cds. I even made a basic cd cover with our monogram and tracklist - nothing special, just standard printing paper lol but the guests loved it!

UKbride Member 29 Jan 2020

We had brooches for the women (£1 each eBay) and chocolate bars with names on for the place holders.

UKbride Member 29 Jan 2020

Molly McEwan I like the charity pin idea, see more rocks though! 😉

UKbride Member 29 Jan 2020

Frances Baines Christopher Phillips lots of lovely ideas on this thread

UKbride Member 29 Jan 2020

We had beautifully packaged individual packets of sunflower seeds for our guests to grow flowers from Mind charity (for mental health). This had a personal resonance for my husband and i and all the money went to the charity too. Lots of charities do favours now and our guests sent me photos of their sunflowers after.

I make wax melts, aroma beads etc so I'm going to be making them for my guests at my wedding in September next year.
If this is something you could be interested in, please have a look at my page Innoscents Wax Melts. I'd be able to make them in pretty much any scent you wanted, something different for men and women. Prices start from just 75p. Do feel free to ask me any additional questions you may have, and congratulations!
I also have a rock painting group called Happiness Rocks Southampton #happyrockssoton. That might give you some inspiration if you wanted to go down the rock painting route too.

Tic tacs are vegan safe, we had them in little packs with 4 in each pack along with other bits, one of which was wooden butterflies with our names and wedding date on xx

UKbride Member 30 Jan 2020

Skittles are suitable for vegans and so is vodka. We made tiny bottles of skittle vodka and they double up and colourful little decorations for the day 🙂
Simply separate the colours. Add a separate colour to separate bottles of vodka. Leave until they dissolve. Shaking daily, the funnel into little bottles. Total cost was £50-60 vodka, £10 skittles and £15 for the little bottles and tags. All got in bulk off amazon 🙂
