Hi, Since having my second daughter in 2018, my skin has been awful. I’m so spotty and it’s really starting to get me down. I get married in June and would like nicer skin and to feel beautiful! Any tips on skincare products to help clear me up? Photos of what you’ve used that works would be amazing please! I drink a lot of water and don’t eat much junk food so my diet is pretty good but I do feel a bit stressed out at the mo which isn’t helping matters. Any tips/advice and photos of products would be much appreciated! Thank you!
I'd recommend the bodyshop teatree or seaweed range, they also have a himalayan charcoal expert facial mask that would help xx
I use proactive skin care range, it’s a 3 step system, used twice a day. You can see before and after pics on their website, although I did have an email to say they were stopping selling to uk online, but boots I’m sure still stock it at the moment.
Any of the Zoe Bee Beauty products clear my skin up!
I’ve just started using alya skin and it’s helping with mine. Also use acnecide cream from boots and that’s good too xx
I had the same problem. I went to a skin specialist who usually do a free consultation. She recommended the right products for me and although expensive they changed my life. I also went to see my GP who put me on medication to help. Worth starting now with only 6 months to go. Have an amazing day x
For acne I got some dual gel from my docs. It keeps the spots at bay and gives your skin a chance to heal and clear up. Good luck finding something that works for you. Btw I second the body shop seaweed stuff! xx
If you can, book in for regular facials running up to the big day. The beautician should be able to recommend/use products to suit your skin and will help you feel more relaxed too! X
I second the body shop range. I’m currently using the tea tree range on my son and it’s really clearing his skin! X x
I had seen a huge improvement using super drugs teatree range using it twice daily along with moisturiser and the also do a deep clean spritz which I use when I am suffering with spots!
Sometimes spotty skincare is actually too harsh and makes them worse. I use a gentle wash for people with ezchema and that have worked best by far
Kate McIver skin serum is incredible
My friend is a dermatologist and told me to do the following skincare routine morning and evening in the run up to my wedding:
1. Oil based cleanser (I used a vitamin c one)
2. Water based cleanser
4. Serum (try looking at ‘the ordinary’ for ones specific to your skin problems)
Each product should be specific for you skin type / the problem you want to focus on. It sounds like a faff but my skin has never been in such great condition!
I got married in June 2018, I went and got an epionce facial every month from Feb 2018 until the April (I wouldn't get one within 4 to 5 weeks of the wedding). The epionce lytic gel cleanser has added vitamin C in it and smells gorgeous of oranges, plus I use the toner and vitamins E and C moisturiser. Not cheap stuff but worth it for your wedding. I suffer terribly from spots due to hormone imbalance being diabetic and having no thyroid and I think this stuff is amazing xxx
Body shops vitamin c range, tea tree and make up are amazing. I used to suffer alot with my skin and was the same, felt down about it and was really worried about my wedding photos. I cut down on how much make up I wore. Made sure i followed a good night time routine and had a brilliant make up artist on my day. Had nothing but praise all day 😊
A couple drops of tea tree oil in warm water to wash your face with and then a light moisturiser (I used oil of Olay beauty fluid) x
I am on roaccutane which you have to be under care of dermatologist at hospital but it is a wonder drug. Spots have stopped no oily skin. Amazing. Also the brand ordinary also so some fab stuff x
I saw a dermatologist back in 2018 as my skin was terrible.
Initially I was prescribed Acnecide (formerly Duac Once Daily) which you can now buy over the counter, it's very good and works pretty quickly.
Most shop bought products didn't work for me as I had acne and not just spots.
Lots of products with Salicylic acid, in have helped me and a vigorous routine, twice a day regardless, even when I’m drunk lol I still manage to do it xx
I felt the same before my wedding and went to a salon where they have Environ products. I had a facial and instantly could see the results which got even better after a few days. I still use them now and my skin is the best it’s ever been. The products are pricey but even if you could have a kick start from a facial and get advice over which ingredients would be good for your skin then I would really advise that and then buy some cheaper ones for home.
Zoe bee beauty, all natural and works wonders. Look at the reviews on her page and the photos. Honestly it’s magical! X
I swear by the Proactiv 3 step system. I've suffered with terrible skin my whole life and its the only thing that has helped me, I've tried a huge variety of different products ranging from cheap to expensive over the last 15-20 years and Proactiv is the only one that not only helps clear spots and keep them away it also hydrates my skin really nicely without making it greasy, would definitely recommend it
I really recommend turmeric tablets and hair/skin/nails tablets x
If you are not sure, maybe you should go to a GP? I went because off the shelf washes and products didn’t work. I was told I have acne rosacea, he gave me a gel to use twice a day, told me to stop using oil based products (certain foundations) and it’s really cleared up.
The tea tree range from the body shop helped me loads. I use face wash, cleanser, tea tree oil, then use the vitamin E gel moisturiser which is less heavy than other moisturisers so good for oily skin 🙂
Body shop consultants are not trained in skin nearly enough I used to be a store manager and know they get minimal training , I’m trained in skin and say don’t bother going to a shop or a
Consultant where they just want to sell you some thing go to a skin clinic / dermatologist who knows what there talking about
The ordinary is really worth looking at also
The ordinary are a really affordable great option for problematic skin! Try the retenoid in squalene it's great for getting rid of spots. Then I would recommend using Ole heriksen skincare, truth serum is full off vitamin C which improves your skins brightness and collegen. Just try a few options not everything works the same for everyone but you will find something!! Hope you get it sorted soon!
Try cutting dairy out of your diet (if u don't already) and see if it has an effect. Also, try drinking pure celery juice every morning 30 mins before you eat anything. Start with 250ml, then 500ml then work your way up to just under a litre each morning. Try this for 30 days straight if you're up for the challenge lol it's an incredible detox and can tackle the root cause of skin issues xx
Deciem The Ordinary products with actual cosmceutical active ingredients. Cheap too. I worked in a skin and medical clinic for many years and these are the products you need for spots:-
Salicylic Acid (mask and/or serum alterated)
Once a month, use a aha/bha acid peel to remove dead skin cell build up and bacteria.
Plus on areas with no active spots/acne, to improve skin texture or reduce scarring use a dermaroller 1.5 inch once a month, it increases collagen production and healing which is basically plump fresh skin.
Add a vitamin c serum and hyaluronic acid to balance skin hydration. Plus always always use factor 30 min suncream for face every day of the year
I have had problem skin for years, tried so much on it, over the counter and prescribed. Over the past 6 months it had got worse and I am determined to have clear skin for my wedding in September. I gave up eating dairy at christmas and all the spots I had have gone. I have had 1 spot this week during that time of the month which is amazing for me. Xx
I tried every off the shelf product, went to my drs in the end and diagnosed with rosacea, they gave me a cream that works. I go for monthly facials which help keep the dryness at bay, my beautician sold me some of her products as they dont aggravate my skin like some have. X
I have been having the most amazing bb glow facials in London area ... it’s a deep cleansing facial with a semi permanent foundation that gives you the most fantastic glow . Really affordable and my skin looks 🔥🔥
Facetheory products are amazing.
Drinking lemon water is like a detox, it will flush the toxins from your skin. The first few days will make your skin break out a bit more, but it’s just all the toxins.. After that, it will clear up so be persistant. Also, after washing your face, apply some aloe vera gel (can be raw from the plant, which is better) all over like a mask and let it dry completely. Then rinse off. Cleanses the pores. Your skin will be looking clear in no time!
Firstly I would pop along to Gp, you might have a hormone imbalance
I'm on permanent antibiotics for my skin
Maybe go for some facials? It makes your skin bad initially as all the toxins come to the serface of your skin but if you keep it up it will hopefully improve over time.
I use liz earle. It was on offer at qvc but little changes like that works wonders with your skin x
Alya skin care only thing that’s more or less cleared my acne up. I don’t always get spots but I get them in weird places on my jawline etc.
Freederm cream love. I swear by it
I have had bad skin my whole life, I used to be so self conscious of it, I didn't understand how my now husband could find me beautiful, then one day something in my brain clicked, I have bad skin, he loves me, and that's what counts. If other people font like it, it's their problem, not mine. I learnt to love my plus size, bad skin self. I truly hope your skin gets better, and if it doesn't then I hope you can love the skin you're in xxx
I have found Tropic Skincare be an absolute god send. They do specific masks for outbreaks & specific serums for your skin type.
Probiotics (they're tablets) you can buy them in most stores they're amazing cleared up my bad excema and my brothers bad acne
Younique!! The skin care range is designed for you, and your skin care needs. You carry out a quiz and say the areas you need help with, and you will get boosters to put into your products, to target those areas. I swear by it. You get what you pay for when it comes to skin care. If you want anymore info, message me xx
Whatever you do do not use the daily face washes that exfoliate. These are the worst products and are usually solid for oily or dry skin. They cause your body to produce more if it’s natural oils that cause spots. If it followed having your baby it sounds more hormonal and your GP should be able to help with this. I personal love liz earl cleanse and toner it’s fresh smelling and makes the skin feel so fresh and clean. Highly recommend. X
The Ordinary skincare has been a game changer for me. It's hard to get your head around what you need at first (I went into store) but it's well worth the initial head scratching
Clinique 3 step system, went to go loads and nothing worked. This changed my life! Good luck
Check out Zoe Bee Beauty, all natural products that actually work. My skin was horrendous until I discovered her a year ago and since I tried her products & skin routine recommendations I never looked back. Check out all the amazing reviews/ before & afters (on Instagram) - sounds too good to be true but believe me it works!
I swear by diluted apple cider vinegar as a toner at night for acne. I get cystic acne on my jawline and it calms it down. I'd dilute 1:1 or more water if you have sensitive skin. I like the body shop seaweed range too. Or try murad blemish control which is excellent but pricier than body shop.
Don’t use anything harsh it will strip your natural souls making it worse in the long term. Buy some simple products cleanser face wash moisturiser and toner. And when you get a big break out use sudocream overnight works a treat xxx
it could be hormonal, go to your gp as if it is then nothing you do at home will clear it up. Mine was (still is!) hormonal and I spent 8 months trying absolutely everything & drove my self crazy (which didn't help)
PS - Enjoy your baby & your htb loves you, have a amazing day xx
I've had rosacea for years. Had the tablets too. I have started using Boots products..tea tree and witch hazel. Works really well ... Cheaper than tablets and more natural. Also a good idea to find out what triggers your breakouts. Stress/food/alcohol etc. Good luck ..... Hope the wedding is Fab x
