Videographer

We're getting married in April 2020 and already have everything booked apart from a videographer. At first I didnt want one but now I do but there so expensive and not sure we have the budget for it now! Did anyone do anything different rather than hiring someone?

Put a load of go pros everywhere to record the day. Had 1 person in charge of putting them up bringing home and pressing record. I couldn't afford anything else but wanted it all captured x

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

You can hire cameras to put out and then send them back and they make the video for you x think it’s about £300

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Hi congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I’m planning on getting friends and family to do video recordings as they will come more naturally not sure if this is what you would want but could be an idea. X

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

I’m going to use a camcorder that is my dads, going to put it on a Tripod for ceremony then have it put in different places during the day which will be the ushers/best-mans job to move it around x

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Theres an app you can get you guests to download and set it up as private sonyou can choose what goes public candid images and videos will show you stuff you miss on the day and its free

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

I didn’t have a videographer but really wish I did. We have been married 5 years this Friday x

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Or speak to your photographer see if they do videography too, some make it part of a package deal or can get discounted prices from their contacts xx

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

I would highly recommend getting one any cutting back on other things. We watch our video all the time even more than looking at photos. You can relive the day.

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

My brothers are walking around with go pros attached to them haha 😂 plus we will just collect whatever footage anyone captures on their phones etc. x

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

We found a fantastic videographer who does payments in 3 instalments, deposit, nearer the date and then once the product has been delivered 10-12 weeks after. It’s mainly why we chose him as have is that little bit longer. Could be worth asking if that’s an option for anyone in your area x

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Try these guys https://www.shoot-it-yourself.co.uk/ I didn't use them but found them at a wedding fair. Could be a good alternative

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Shoot It Yourself we are using them too x

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

My husband moaned a little about having the videographer and the cost but we’ve watched our video a few times already(married 2 weeks) and he’s admitted he’s glad we had it. It’s so special to watch each other getting ready, to see your vows and everyone else having fun. If it’s something you want, then work it out. You won’t be sorry xx

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

I run a wedding video production company called Affordable Wedding Videos http://www.affordableweddingvideos.net please get in touch and we can do a tailored quote.

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

I would love a videographer but we definitely can’t afford one so we’re buying a few cameras and doing it our selves! I’m only wanting the ceremony, speeches and first dance recorded so we can do it ourselves

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Why not contact your local college, to see if any arts students would be interested in building their portfolio?

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

I know a lovely videographer who literally loves what he does and only charges like £500 he’s incredible. If anyone wants his name let me know. He’s been doing it for friends and family for ages and just starting to get his name out there hence his price. X

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Benjamin Darren is amazing!! Highly reccommend and extremely reasonable x

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Iv seen offers for it on groupon, if a deal comes up that suits you do some digging and look at reviews of those ones to see if they are suitable. Worth a nosey at least?

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

I've seen a few black Friday offers this week so it might be worth looking around now to see if anyone is offering a discounted rate

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

If you want to do it on the cheap, speak to local colleges or universities, quite often you can get someone, although inexperienced it's great for their portfolio.

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

We didn't, but we ended up regretting it, especially as our Photographer pulled out on the morning of the wedding! 😲 Luckily our friends stepped in, but it's not the same. Fast forward 2 and a half years and my husband and I have now set up our own Videography business, such is our belief in the value of a professional service. https://www.facebook.com/MurphyEventsMedia/

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

You'll never regret getting a videographer. They capture so much more than a photograph can, they're worth every penny. Here in NI the average is about £1200. It was a top priority for me, hubby not so much, but no regrets

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

I couldn’t justify the amount of money, so we borrowed my dads camcorder and bought a tripod and had it in the corner of the church and then again at our reception we recorded the speeches. I have watched them back several times and so glad we videod them

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Use Tom Pollard Films he is amazing. 2 years on and I still watch my video . Best thing we booked for ther wedding .

I’d say ditch loads of unnecessary stuff and book the videographer!! The day goes so quick I didn’t notice all the things I spent money on nor have chance to enjoy it! Had a cheese cart... didn’t get chance to eat any of it, guests we to full
Up to make most of it! Details in venue dressing.. waste of time! All seemed so important at the time, it’s not! Book
the videographer luckily we did and so glad now we get to see the day we missed at the time! X

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

I found a really cheap one and I’m editing the video my self £350 for the day 🥰 going to be so worth it x

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Stuart Carter..... 🎥 do your thing.....

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

I am an affordable videographer, feel free to take a look at my website, it's definitely worth having one as the day goes so fast and it's great to see it all back ☺️ www.isabelleproductions.co.uk

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

I’ll just leave this here 😉 Sony music, Katy Perry, Adidas, Nike and 37 cinematic weddings around the world... over 50% off now too 🙂

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

One of our witnesses used his phone and recorded the whole thing it rested on the dado rail of registry office

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

I would definitely recommend shoot it yourself, you can always get someone at the wedding to film it

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

If you really can't afford a videographer or even someone like Shoot It Yourself (who do all the editting for you, which is awesome), then you could use an app like Sticht on iPhone that takes your guests uploaded videos and you use the app to create the final film. I highly recommend getting some kind of video though as you really capture the day and your guests like no other way possibly can x

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Check out @vlogmywedding on here, totally different spin and lots cheaper :)

Where are based?

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Check out deals on black Friday,we booked ours on a black friday deal and it was less than half the original price!

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Worth every penny! I would of really regretted not getting one. Our videographer was a man and wife partnership. The wife was filming a little before the church when we were getting ready and he filmed at the church and then finished not long after the first dance, think there was a couple dances after it and it showed everything up dancing and having fun. They were so professional and not in your face. My husband and I have a copy, both sets of parents have 1 each and my husband’s grandad has one. Great to see all of the memories, speeches and special people. And I think in years to come it will be even more special to watch. X

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

We thought about it but in the end only had the photographer as both was too much. Friends and family took short videos and they are lovely. X

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

We weren’t going to have one then I saw a thread just like this on here, it made me think about all the things I’d not get to see on the day and all the things we’d not remember.
We booked an amazing videographer and he was worth double what we paid, it was the best decision we made.
We now have video of all our friends and family that we can see whenever we want. I’d say do it every time.
A friend has passed away since our wedding and I’ve been able to get footage from our video for her husband as he had very little video of her, he can now hear her voice and watch her smiling whenever he wants too.
It’s invaluable!

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Hire someone. It's worth the money. You're not just paying for the day, but the editing too. Xx

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

I did the same thing... someone told me about a website called Poptop... you put in your budget and requirements and people bid for it. We ended up booking someone who is just starting up their business and got a bargain. Might be good if you only have a small budget xxx

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Shoot-it-yourself. Check out their website. Highly recommended xx

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

We found ours on groupon xx

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Its worth the money to have one if you can find the budget xx

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

My mother shot our wedding video and then we handed the camcorder around in the evening and everyone filmed parts of the wedding and left messages and it was an amazing informal really personal way of doing it

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

We hired one and he was a nightmare. Didn’t end up filming the first dance and basically interrupted the wedding day several times. I wouldn’t skimp on one. If you get one, make sure they are professional and don’t interfere with photographers. We never watch our video and I wish we hadn’t bothered. X

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Claire Byrne.who did you get.x

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Really helpful post! I’m also having the same problem!

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

I bought a camera and tripod and recorded our ceremony and first dance. Ceremony it was fixed in one place and missed some bits, speeches a guest had to hold it as I hadn't set it up properly and it couldn't get the angle of the whole table, the first dance was the best because I set it up and left it there until we had finished. I personally wouldn't have a videogropher i would delegate it to certain family and friends to capture what you want, the ceremony is slightly different but that's my personal choice it depends how badly you want it.

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

You could just make an announcement of people to record moments on their phone and share them to you and then make a beautiful home movie by combining them all with some PC software instead of forking out on someone.

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

I used Flash Photography - it was about £350.

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

Shoot It Yourself have a Black Friday deal on this week ☺️

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

We advertised our wedding available for someone to "practice". We got an amazing video of all day and a BBC style documentary 20 mins long with interviews with us and guests! Fantastic and free! He was a small film maker going into wedding videos. There are loads of students and starters wanting to do this. We agreed he could use footage for advertising. No catch. X

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

We’ve booked a karaoke video booth - check out Dan Biggar wedding on YouTube. I can’t see me watching our wedding video but could definitely watch the karaoke version

UKbride Member 26 Nov 2019

My sister in law used her gopro and then she just edited it and cut it together. She isnt a professional or anything just a little bit clever with a computer. Completely free and it's honestly one of my favourite things to watch. Something to think about xx

UKbride Member 28 Nov 2019

Theres a great app called samsaidyes. Your guests can upload pics and videos to it. Maybe look at that as it's free x

Hi guys! Be sure to have a little look @kickmediauk I have recently left school and have started my own business and after doing videography work for the past 4 years have made the decision to charge a fair rate for high quality content. Take a look at the website - www.kickmedia.live - also hate to be cheesy but drop us a message before Saturday to receive some money off for a Black Friday offer 📸
