Photographers

How have you decided on your photographer? I'm torn between 2 very good photographers, I'm unable to have an engagement shoot/ practice wedding shoot as we're getting married in Devon and we live in the Midlands. I've looked at both portfolios but love styles of both. I'm stuck! Any advice?

Go with what your gut tells you.

Check if they have availability for the day you require if one doesn’t and the other does that’ll make it a lot easier for you but also check if there’s any kind of shot you want done. Can one do it while another can’t? They all have their own techniques 🙂
Also depends on their prices, what’s your budget and is one a lot higher than you can afford?

Have a practice shoot somewhere close to home. It's still worthwhile to understand if you work well together and build you relationship and confidence

Are you able to have a chat with both photographers, we picked from a choice purely due to the fact we got on with 1 better with them and had more of a connection.

Toss a coin. You'll soon know which one you want.

If you love them both I’d just go with whose cheaper 🙂

Meet/Skype them both and pick who you get along with the most! They will be with you for your full wedding day so it’s always a good idea to make sure you are a good match personality wise 😊

Have you met them? I found lots of photographers whose photos I love. But you have to remember that they are playing a significant part in your special day and you have get a good feeling about them as a person too

You could do what we did, we live in the midlands and got married in Somerset so we found a photographer we loved from the midlands and he was happy to travel, we if course paid the expenses for this

It meant we got out pre shot done and had the guy that we got in so well with

Talk to them, give them a call for just a chat. You definitely need chemistry, you need to be able to relax around them and be comfortable. Find out which one you get on with better and go for that one.

Look at their reviews and then go with ur gut instinct xx

Have you met them? Our photographer was from Devon and he was fantastic made us feel really at ease and got some great shots

We had the same issue. One was cheaper than the other which was a factor, but also we spoke to both and the more expensive one was a bit more pushy and less friendly so went with the friendly one.

Who have you narrowed it down to? I live in Devon and might be able to help

UKbride Member 18 Nov 2019

We were in the same pickle.
However from the minute we met Paul and Jo from Double Take Photography there was something magical that developed and now are considered friends for life!

Go with the one you felt most at ease with. Last thing you want is a creepy guy on your big day following you around. 🤦🏼‍♀️😁

UKbride Member 18 Nov 2019

Meet them both and then decide on, what they can do base on what you want. To narrow the choice down.

UKbride Member 18 Nov 2019

I’d just meet up with them each for a cuppa tea/ video call and just chat and see which one you feel more comfortable around

UKbride Member 18 Nov 2019

Have you met them ... If not then do .. you want to go on personality too as you spend alot of time with them and want to feel comfortable on the day

UKbride Member 18 Nov 2019

Flip a coin?

UKbride Member 19 Nov 2019

I went on price. We met our photographer at a wedding fair where we were specifically looking at photographers and she was the cheapest by a long way.

UKbride Member 19 Nov 2019

Speak with them both either in person or Skype, I chose our photographer based on her personality and how I felt talking to her. She's now also a really good friend who played a big part in helping me organise the wedding as well!
