Dress Budget

What is your Dress Budget? And who's paying for it? My parents have offered to pay for my dress and they've given me a £2k budget, however I'm no way wanting to spend that much. The dress I have my eye on is £675 from Wed2b.

The cost of the dress is irrelevant really, as long as you love the dress and it makes you happy does it matter if it costs £500 or £5000. Xx

I aimed to only spend a couple of hundred, my mum wanted to buy my dress, she never gave me a budget, but she knew I'd be sensible, in the end my dress was £1299, reduced to £799, I place a £500 budget, the manager of the store sold it to me for £500. I then purchased some straps from wish for £39, this made the keyhole look at the back. I went to Your Wedding Shop in the West Midlands xx

I spent £150 at JJs House. No way was I spending more than £200 on a dress I was only going to wear once. But I didn't want to hire, as it's something I would like to keep.

I think whatever dress makes you happy get. I spent well over the budget I had been given from my parents so I’ll pay for the extra myself. But if it’s cheaper then all the better you also need shoes accessories and a veil so you can use that money for those too if they are willing to gift you that

My nana offered me 1k but I'd feel guilty taking it plus one dress I had my eye on was bout the same price wise I'd be tempted to ask fam who want to put money towards the dress especially if your dress will come no where near the upper end of the budget just ask them if they'd like to put it towards the wedding as a whole?

My shoes were £40, headpiece £40 and alterations came to just over £100. I spent way more than I expected on everything but loved them all.

Don't compare yourself to others everyone has different budgets. Go with what you believe is best for you. X I tried so many dresses on in different shops and most of the ones I loved were all around the same price figure. I tried before looking at price tags as I didn't want this to sway me. Ive paid £1360 just for my dress more than I wanted to but I jus didn't feel comfortable in any of the others. So do what's best for you xx

Wow that's a big budget! Mine is a bridesmaids dress and it cost £180 from my local bridal shop. I bought it coz I loved it, but the price tag is a bonus. Mum paid for it, as she always wanted to buy my wedding dress. The things i could buy for £2000 though 😮

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 4 Oct 2019

That's fantastic. Don't feel like you have to give up the dress you love based purely on budget. Bear in mind alterations and accessories, maybe even some posh undies and shoes, etc and it all adds up. My nan bought my veil because I took her to the shop for a try on and I said I loved it. Only realized after how much that would've cost me, which was more than I realised lol. X

UKbride Administrator

My mum paid for my dress and it was £1900 and £250 for alterations. It was hand beaded and covered in Swarovski...so understable for the price. I set out in my mind that wed2be was for me and i would never want to spend that sort of cash on a dress. Tried on my dream dress in a gorgeous boutique, then went to wed2be and found the quality lacking. Thats just my personal preference though! My mum loved my dress and could see how different i felt in it compared to the wed2be ones. So for me, the money was worth it. Everyone said how incredible it was!

Got my dress from wed 2b and had complements from three boutiques (who allowed me to take it in to try with my bridesmaids trying on dresses). They wanted to know the designer and where I had purchased. I then made my cathedral veil with Swarovski Crystal's. Both drss and veil have been taken to a professional wedding dress cleaner, he was also impressed with the quality of stitching and the dress as a whole. He was surprised when my mum said we had made the veil. Just because it costs a fortune, doesn't mean it's better quality. Try lots of different stuff xx
