Wedding dress disaster, seeking advice

Hi everyone, looking for some advice. My wife bought a dress from a well known (expensive) designer via a well known bridal shop, I won’t bore you with the details but basically the dress had flaws develop and a few days before the wedding significant changes to the design had to be made to make it wearable, which was a disaster as it didn’t look as my wife wanted it to or requested, she absolutely hated wearing it. Bridal shop is understanding, however designer is not admitting fault. Bridal shop have offered 20% refund or sending dress for independent inspection. The manageress advised the most she has ever heard of a bride getting back if the inspection goes in their favour is 10% but whether that is right or not I can’t say. Should we pursue or cut our losses and accept the 20%? I’m sure any future or recent brides can appreciate the stress and emotional toll this has been taking on us.

I wouldn't listen to that advice at all, legally if it's a manufacturing fault you've been sold a product that's no good and they will need to refund you, take plenty of pics/videos before you send it off, start a chat with trading standards and expect a bit of a battle but you deserve a full refund

If you paid on your debit / credit card could you do a dispute with them regarding the goods / services received not as described?
