Taking time out on wedding day

When is the appropriate time on your wedding day to take time for one another? And how long would you say is reasonable to be away from your guests?

We were married last Saturday and we didn’t leave our guests until we went home at the end 🤷🏻‍♀️

Our plan is to have half an hour to sneak away in between the wedding breakfast and the evening do, and come back when they announce us into the room

I think it depends on you. My mum went to a wedding reception recently and she said she honestly didn't see the couple together at all. One danced all night abdvthe other was no where to be found. I do hope we can find a moment to sneak away, be alone and wind down for a bit even if it just a few minutes.

After our photos our toastmaster took us aside into a separate room for 15 mins or so, just so we could catch up together. It was lovely.

I’ve never been to a wedding where the bride and groom disappear.
Our only alone time was when we were having photos taken and tbh I wouldn’t want to be away from my day and guests for any longer than that. We had s catch up after the wedding but I had so much on my wedding day that I didn’t get to join in with as it was

when we got married 23 years ago we had the day event at a hotel and then we had the evening party at ours.. so we had a couple of hours inbetween where there was only a few of us until the evening kicked it and think everyone went about 3am but it was fantastic as everyone had cleared up so we had no mess to come down to in the morning

We had a 1 hour gap between day and evening so had chance to go to our room and relax together

I went to a wedding last year and the bride and groom took some pictures away from the guests and when they were done took a little bit of time for themselves of about 15 minutes before coming back. Then they stayed with the guests until everyone started leaving between 11pm and 12am

After our ceremony we got guided our side one way and our guests got guided the other way. We got about 15mins alone. Then we got guided for the confetti. We also got 5 min when my husband held up my dress for me when I needed a wee lol !! Xxx

We are having a sweetheart table so that will give us a chance to catch up 😂 Apart from that we will probably only be alone when we are having pics with just us in lol

Our top table is just us 2 so that will be our time I guess
It will all be a blur no doubt so got to enjoy every minute 😊

Bed, or you could have a sweetheart table and sit together during the meal.

The only time we were away from the guests, was when we took bridesmaids and immediate relatives away for photographs. Then we stayed the rest of the afternoon/evening with our guests and didn't go to bed until the last guest left.

Thank you everyone. My sister got married Tuesday just gone and she was only away for photos like the majority of you lovely lot. Ive read some couples have up to an hour on their own but we wouldn't want to be away from guests that long.

Our reception venue was a 40min drive from the ceremony venue, so we had that time on the drive..

We had half an hour on a private balcony as they were sitting all of the guests for the wedding breakfast. It was lovely, probably one of my favourite parts of the day 🥰 x
