question can i ask a really strange question. would you have a reception on a different day than the wedding day?? planning to marry on 6th may (wed), and wondering if it be strange to have the reception, the monday or the saturday after the wedding day. or would having the reception on same day as wedding.

If you are having children then I think this is fine, but it is very difficult for parents to get a sitter for 1 day, let alone 2. Xx

My first wedding many years ago, we got married on the Friday and had the reception on the Sunday. It was great. I got to dress up twice and was so much more relaxed at the reception. X

I get married on 31st this month in Blackpool and having the reception at end of September at a venue where we live, it’s worked really well for us, so much less stress and I get to wear my dress again xx

We got legally hitched last weds, had 4 family members there and went for dinner afterwards. Then on Saturday 17th aug we had a festival style wedding and had a celebrant to do a ceremony where we read our own vows, in front of friends and family. We partied into the small hours!

Its depends on who you would invite if you have family/friends coming from away they may not be able to travel twice but if its local people it shouldn't be a problem I've never seen it done like that but doesnt mean you cant more excuse to wear your dress twice x
