When did you start looking for your wedding dress? Date is April 2020 and I'm going to look at some dresses on Saturday, some people are saying it's too early others are saying good idea. I am a student nurse so dont have much personal time to plan the wedding.
Mine is Aug 2020 I'm going dress shopping Aug this year. As long as you do it a year in advance your fine.
I’m may 2020 and I got mine in feb this year! They can take at least 6 months to order in, plus alterations etc so I definitely wouldn’t go any later than a year.
It’s late now should always allow a year for some designer dresses! I got mine last year for June next year but it was a limited edition
Id say you are goin at the right time, i got mine last september and get married in august this year. Im glad its done as theres so much i need to do now xx
I got mine....last april/may and I'm getting married in August so think it's fine :) one less thing to worry about
I’m getting married in October 2020 I bought mine last year I love it when you know you know
My wedding is November 2020 and I bought my dress 2 weeks ago! I wasn't expecting to find "the one" so soon!
Mine is April 2020 too and I'm looking later this month, it gives you plenty of time to find the dress and then get alterations if needed
I got mine a year in advance xx
I got mine January 2018 (3 days after he proposed) I'm getting married July this year x
I'm getting married may 2020 and I'm looking at dresses now. Not been to try any on yet, just seeing what's out there that I like. For me, i like to have more time and be 100% happy with my choice rather than choose something in a panic because of time
I get married in August this year and only found my dress two weeks ago ️
I get married next month and I brought my dress last May! Xx
It can take 6mths from placement of order for it to come in, the earlier you go the better
Mine is February 2020 and I got mine last month there was good deals on so thought why not.
About a year is good. When I chose mine I had to send off for it and it took 6 months to arrive, then you have to have alterations etc.
I got mine this January in the sales got a expressive dress for less
I bought mine 6 months before and had to have it adjusted on the day x
My wedding is in 4 weeks and ive had my dress since aug x
Now would be perfect. You wont feel rushed if you need to go to a few shops or have a couple appts before saying yes!
I looked 2 years before lol x
I started looking quite early but it was more to see what shapes and styles suited etc. I'm getting married in Oct but bought my dress in Feb, wasn't intending too but I fell in love and my mum fell in love so yeah :) As long as they have time to order it in you're golden.
It’s always best to do it a year or a little bit over a year because the dress has to be made and altered to you which takes about 6/8 months then you get all your final adjustments done in the final months before the wedding so doing it now is the best time
My wedding is on April 27th and I’ve had my dress since last March! Only just having the alterations done now and I’ve had a baby in between so you will be fine to look now if that’s what you want to do. Also it was ordered in March but didn’t come in until August so you do need to allow plenty of time for that xx
My wedding is August 2020 and I found my dress in January this year, only went to look, but once I put it on I knew it was the one. Do it whenever you're ready. X
Not too early at all. In general it takes 9 months for your dress to arrive and you'll need time for alterations as well. It can take time to find the dress you want too so you need to factor in enough time to search. Good luck!
I got married last year and I chose my dress 2 years before I did a payment plan with the shop as it was just over £1,000 so I was paying each month for it, when I had paid off a certain amount they then ordered it and it took 6 months to get into store. Some people said I was stupid for ordering that far in advance and I would change my mind. But I didn’t, I did see other dresses obviously as I went to wedding fares ect for other bits. But nothing compared to the dress I had ordered and when it came into store and I put it on again I had exactly the same feeling as when I first tried the sample one on,
I would say if you see one and you know it’s ‘the one’ then get it.
Getting married in October I started looking in Jan and ordered. Generally they say you need seven months for it to be made.
Pulling the whole thing off in 6 months here... If you want a dress made, a year or more. I'm having an off the peg dress so I think I left enough time xxxx
I got mine off the peg 1 month before my wedding as I changed my date. Although before I changed the date I was looking 18 months in advance so never to early (also I fell pregnant to) x
I’ve already got mine and I’m getting married June 2020
I started 18m in advance
Mine is February 21st 2020 and I got my dress last month, no harm at all in looking and if you find the one along the way no reason you can’t buy it and store it with a family member until the big day xx best of luck for your wedding day ♥️
Getting married in August this year and bought the dress in January x
I have been looking for designs online since January 2018. ordered my dress online on June 2018, arrived on July. Alterations done by August 2018. My wedding was October 2018. Everyone thought I spent more than a grand on my dress when in fact, I spent a total of less than £400. And, I am a nurse. :)
My wedding the same time as urs and I went in February and got that day. Do it when u feel ready x
I got mine about 11 months before, it was about 2 sizes too small but I fell in love and it was the last one available. Luckily it fit by the time the wedding come
I too was restricted with time as we were doing a full house renovation ourselves at the time so I only put 1 day aside to go dress shopping. Best advice is to not overthink things and buy what you like x
Mine is July 2020 and went in January, found it in the first shop I went too
i got mine in July 2018 and i’m not getting married until February 2020, i’m still in love with it today so no need to worry about not loving it the same after a while if you go early 🥰
We get married in May 2020 and I've already got mine. The store I bought it from keep it until 48 hours before the big day too. It depends when you find the one for you I guess xx
Our wedding is October 2020 and I just got mine at the end of March. I planned to start looking in April-ish but then my mam & sisters weekends off fell at the end of March so we went last weekend. Going now means you aren’t too stressed about needing to find one, you have plenty of time! Good luck 😊👰🏻
I got my dress before I even booked the date and decided on a venue 🙊
I got my dress January 2019..... don't get married till November 2020 haha...... but I look at picture of it often and I still love it, it's the one..... never too early to get organised xxxxxxx
We're getting married April 2020 too and I'm going shopping for the first time today!! If you're ready to look just go. Good luck!
It’s perfect timing! Some dresses take ages to come in and it gives you some time to make the decision. Go for it!
I’m getting married Dec 2020 and plan on looking in the summer. Although I’m so impatient I just want to go now
I also get married April 2020 (also a student nurse hahah) I haven't started looking yet, but that's mainly because I still have a lot of weight to loose before I want to even start looking, I'm going to start looking in May June time, after I've finished my dissertation. There's no harm in looking now though
I bought mine last June and I get married in 4 weeks! My advice if you buy it early is don’t keep looking at it. Store it away until you need to get it altered, if it needs it! Xx
I would say its not to early to go and look to see what styles you may like then when you come to buy your dress you know they style you want so will take the headache out of it. In terms of buying one now unless you know what you want and find it straight away I might say its to early as your ideas and body might change.
I got mine around August last year and I get married in 3 weeks xx
I'm april 2020 too and I bought my dress end of january this year. Some dresses can take up to 9 months to come in and then you need to leave time for alterations too x
I got mine last August and I get married next August eager
I'm getting married May 2020 and I said yes to the dress 2 Saturdays ago :)
I'm getting married Nov this year and got mine summer last year
I've put a deposit down on mine and my wedding is July next year.. if you want to do it you do it!
I got mine in May 2015 didn’t get married until July 2016
I went 1 year out to look for mine.
I’ve bought mine and mines may2020. Never to early. Lol it’s one of the most exciting bits x
I get married October 2020 and I’m going dress shopping in two weeks time 🤷️. Some places I’ve been to take up to 6 months just to get the dress in once it’s been ordered and then alterations on top of that can take longer
I've not even booked a date yet but looking at end of next year maybe but I'm going to look at weekend as fell in love with a dress that in sale and we are on a budget. You go when you want to not when people think you should. Xx
Mine is June 2020 And have an appointment booked for then of this May :) as others have said, it can take time for dresses to come in and time will be needed for alterations etc. Also, if you find a dress and it is absolutely the one then go for it! Everyone will do things in different orders x
As soon as we booked the venue last August. But I wasn't after anything expensive. Bought princess dress from Facebook friend for £70.need just minor alteration, but great condition looks stunning. It probably depends what are you after x
I went looking a year before wedding and finally found one a month later . Wanted to be sure before I put money down. My dress arrived 4 months later. (7 months before wedding) and I have my first fitting 2 months before wedding. Xx
I get married Nov 2019 & bought my dress March 2018 xx
August 2019 and I got mine back in June!
I started looking last year as I wasn't sure what I wanted. I went to a few shops over the year and found my top three then due to the shop closing down The dress in my size was highly discounted so I thought it was meant to be so got my dress a few months ago however getting married next year which I can have alterations done then.
I found it really hard to find the dress so my advise is if you don't have much time start looking as soon as you can cause it can take longer than you think xz
Mine is this month!! :-D Got the dress last October. I didn't want a fancy customised one though and it didn't need alterations.
I’m getting married May 2020 and I went for the first time last weekend and going again this weekend but I believe I found the one last weekend x
Mine is March 2020 bought my dress last week x
I personally feel that's way too early! I'm getting married in December this year and haven't looked at all yet. Now there are shops like wed2b where you can take one home on the day it makes it perfect for laid back brides like me x
I got my dress last summer getting married in may 2019
I'm getting married in August 2020 and will be shopping on Thursday! Now is a good time for sales! X
I get married next February and I started looking over a year in advance. My dress takes 9 months to be made from the states so it does depend on where you get it from. I think if you want to spread the cost then the more time you have the better also xx
I'm getting married in August 2021. Going to try some tonight. I'd rather be prepared and gives me an idea of what I want. Then I can plan around it. If you have a limited budget getting it earlier let's you save or pay it off too x
A year is about the right time to start looking. If you want a made to measure you are looking at around 3 months for it to even come in and then you will most probably need some alterations so another month or two and that’s without any hiccups. Even if you buy off the peg most wedding dresses will still need altering so defiantly not too early. It’s a big thing you don’t want to rush it that’s for sure. X
I started looking a year out and was perfect timing to be honest. I like to be organised and I'd have been stressed if I left it til 6 months before
I'm getting married May 2020 and got my dress 6 weeks ago x
You can look as and when you want!! I started looking a year and a half before my wedding, went to about 6 different places before finding the one and I still love it now. People get so opinionated when it comes to a wedding, it drove me insane. You do what you want, when you want and think about YOU not everyone else xx
Mine is August 2020 and I bought mine last month.
November 2020 and bought mine last month x
No harm in looking I wouldnt listen to what others tell you you just need to do what's right for you xx
I’m getting married in May this year. I bought my dress in sept 2017. One shop assistant scoffed and said it was too early so I didn’t buy it there. I was a student too and saw a dress shop had a sale so I went for it. I’m getting the alterations done now.
Depends if you buy off the hook or order one in to be made . Or you buy one then have it significantly altered I bought mine about 15 months before the date but it’s taking a while for the alterations as I lost a lot of weight plus I’m so short so they doing the alterations bit by bit had one fitting last month get another one end of this month so it can take a while . Reckon I’m looking at three fittings minimal . But not everyone has all that palava . Depends on dress you choose some have more to them than others,
My wedding is planned for 12th June 2020 and I have my dress already bought through Amazon cost just over £100 (postage was included) so to me it's not too early to buy a dress. I gave myself plenty of time for any adjustment to be made for the dress which all it needs is to be taken up a little. Do what makes this process as stress free as possible for yourself as planning a wedding can make you want to pull your hair out and good luck for your happy day xx
I'm May 2020 and going shopping this May. Doesn't matter when you start looking x
I get married July 2020 and bought mine last month...takes 9ish months to get made then alterations etc after that. Just go when you're ready to 😊 better a bit early than too late x
It’s your wedding, do what you want to do! I had some weight to lose so I left it a bit later. But it’s totally your own choice x
Some dresses take six months to arrive after ordering. I’d go now. Mines here and we haven’t even set a date yet lol x
U ignore everyone else and do whatever feels right to u
My wedding is April this year I got an off the peg dress in November had my alterations beguinning of March and picked it back yesterday. I wouldn't say to early because you might change your mind other dresses that's lots of things to plan in the mean time
I ordered mine last June , it took months to find “the one” I like to be organised it was an expensive dress so I spent 6 months paying it off, I get married in may and my dress still hasn’t arrived they said end of April which I think is cutting it fine! Do what makes you happy not everyone picks one “off the shelf” and it can be a nightmare to find the one for you c
I'm getting married next April too and iv already got my dress.. I have had it for about 2 months
I got my dress in January and not getting married until may 2021! X
A year before, if your dress is going to be made for you as you need the time - then time for fittings etc. If your dress is off the peg you can leave it a little later. However going to look is not going to make a difference, if you find one yey! If not keep looking...
I’m July 2020 mines ready in the store to collect when I want
I have bought my dress already, and our date is 20th June 2020 got engaged in October. I fell in love with a second hand dress and had to have it
I got my dress 4 years ago and still don’t have a date set I found it during a sample sale! If you know what you want just go for it! I’d rather be prepared 🤷️
I think now is an excellent time to start looking, the annual wedding shows have just taken place, which means that most bridal stores will have sales on to make space for the new dresses they have ordered. Or, you could be the first to try on/choose one of their new dresses. Win/Win.
It depends on what type of dress you want, and where you plan to buy it from. I've worked in a bridal boutique and we used to advise dress shopping a year before the wedding. As others have said, it could take a while to find your dream dress and for some designers, it can take 4-6 months for the dress to arrive in the shop, and then you need to allow time for alterations which can take a few appointments. If your dress is finished early, some shops will store it for you, although they may charge for this.
On the other hand if you plan to buy an off the peg dress at somewhere like wed2be, you just walk in and buy it. They also have seamstresses who can do alterations.
I got married 18 months ago and I didn't want the fuss or cost of a bridal shop. I had 2 trips to wed2b and chose my dress and had it altered and chiffon sleeves added was much easier! For some people, they want dress shopping to be an occasion where they take family and bridesmaids etc, I just didn't want a lot of fuss!
I bought mine in January for May 2020 but that’s because I’m trying to be super organised! I’d say 10-12 months before is good x
I brought my dress February 2018 and I get married next month x
I bought mine 9 months before and then required a bit of altering, will get final alterations done in Aug, one month before the big day!
My wedding is Aug 2020 but I bought mine in Jan and will be picking it up in May.
A year before definitely isn’t too early especially if you’re not getting it off the rack!
I’m getting married June 2020 and plan to start looking this May
I’m getting married this October and I bought my dress in November 2018 but I haven’t got my final alterations yet I will do that 2 months before my wedding day
Also wed2be is a very good place for dresses don’t need an appointment and dresses aren’t expensive
I get married this Aug, I found my dress middle of last Aug and bought it and week later after I showed my Mum 😊
Wedding August 2020, bought my dress a few weeks ago. There is a 7 month wait for my dress to be made so definitely didn't do it too early.
I'm March 2020 and going next weekend to start looking. X
I’m getting married in May 2020 and I’ve got my dress.
I didn’t have a rush I just found it faster than o thought I would ✨
I’m getting married may 2020 and just bought mine, I knew exactly what I wanted though and know I won’t change my mind and it was just about finding the right one and when I did I got it, it’s another thing ticked off the list.
Looking now means you can emit least decide on the exact style you’re looking for and start narrowing it down x
About a year out is fine. Gives you time to shoo around without feeling rushed into a decision. If you want to go out earlier, then go, but don't feel pressured into buying something unless you're sure because you can change your mind if you have more than 18 months to go.
I get married may 2021 and I've got mine 🙈❤
5 years before but that's only had to postpone the wedding xxx
I'm may 2020 and I started looking in November! I'm glad I did as I only found my dress 4 weeks ago and I had tried on over 20 dresses. Bare in mind dresses can take 6-12 months to make (so I was told). Good luck on your search xx
I'm getting married in July and I don't have a dress yet 🙈
I’m going June and my wedding is in April 2020 never to early to start looking
I get married this July and I bought my wedding dress last August. It arrived in March ️ xx
Mines December 2020, got my dress in January 😂
I have already brought mine I’m an April 2020 wedding too
My dress took 9 months from ordering to final fitting - some designers take less time though or if it’s a stock dress you’ll be able to have it pretty much straight away
I got mine last year and get married May 2020. I was too excited and couldn’t wait to try them on.
I was told by bridal shops about 12 months in advance is usually needed x
I got mine a year in advance xx
I bought mine March 2017 and got married April 2018! Started looking Nov 2016. There’s so many to choose from I think it’s good to get an idea even if you don’t buy but I’d say now is perfect time x
I’m getting married in November and got my dress last October. There’s nothing wrong with being organised
I bought my dress last September and my wedding is April 2020 will be getting alterations done after Christmas
I bought my dress last September and my wedding is April 2020 will be getting alterations done after Christmas
I am get married in October 22nd of October 2022 I went to a sale and found my dress I also got my wedding shoes as well
I'm getting married in March 2020 and I got my dress last June.
