Cheap dresses

Has anyone bought a cheap dress off Ebay and been happy with it? I'm refusing to spend £700+ on a dress I will only wear for 12hrs max. I thought I could but a bigger size even get it taken in it jewels added

Hi I didn't like the idea of spending a fortune. I found a dress I love at £800. After I am going to have it redesigned so I can wear it again also I am going to make a memory blanket of family that have passed so will add some to that. My sister had one of eBay she loved it and looked beautiful in it. Good luck x

I got my dress for £26 off wish £40 with postage I love it I watched a lot of YouTube videos after about how hit and miss they can be.
I have to have it altered massively but that was my fault I ordered a size bigger and since have lost a lot of weight ( unintentionally)
But I was so pleased with the fabric, feel and look of it.
I said if it hadn’t of paid off I could of used it as a halloween costume 😂. But I know have a lovely dress for cheaper than what my bridesmaids dresses will probably cost

I bought my wedding dress for £100 on AliExpress and then got it customised.. this was the before.. i changed the bottom half to satin cos the fabric was cheap and crappy, and then used all the puff at the bottom to make/fill out an overskirt. Altogether my dress cost just under £200 lol

There are lots of second hand wedding dress sites, I got mine brand new with labels rrp £700 for £240 including postage from Still White. I'm not sure about all the sites but the lady I bought it from just had a change of heart and wanted a different dress to wear for her wedding, so it was just like having a brand new dress. It was nice as well as it helps other brides out who change their mind and recycles dresses depending on what you like. Happy dress hunting! x

This’ll be unpopular but cheap dresses from eBay are cheap for a reason, someone’s been underpaid to make the dress in all likelihood and the design has been ripped from independent designers.

You can find an excellent value dress in wed2be or preloved. Oxfam in London has a whole dedicated wedding shop.

I got my dress made to measure from China for approx £200 and I loved it, only needed a touch of alterations (bringing the hem up at the bottom as it was slightly too long - my own fault as I measured with shoes with a bigger heel and changed my mind and had a much smaller heel!)

My sister paid 140 for a dress off ebay, when it turned up it was too small, ripped and nothing like the picture.
My mum took her bargain hunting where we found the dress she had always loved in a charity shop for £100.

Id say look around first some charity shops have a big store full of wedding dresses but may mean you travelling to them x it's always better to see in person where you can try it on and see and feel the fabric and condition

Oxfam usually have a bridal section and also wed2b are really nice dresses if ur willing to buy straight off the rail.
I unfortunately have been caught by the typical bridal shop who saw me coming and I've paid well over what I wanted to for my dress ...but it is genuinely the dress of my dreams.
I know a couple of people who ordered dresses online, one was beautiful but the quality of the material around her arms was that rough it caused her to bleed towards the end of the day (Not great on an ivory dress)
The other was a beautiful red dress with lots of sparkle / gems on the corset bodice... of which a lot fell off throughout the day leaving it quite patchy. Both dresses were approx £200.
That being said, I have heard some good stories of buying online.... I guess it's just luck of the draw.
Good luck x

You can’t put a price on the feeling a wedding dress gives you. I bought a cheap dress off eBay for £120 and it was good enough but didn’t make me feel beautiful.
I ended up buying a new dress a few months before the big day for £1140 and I can honestly say on my wedding day I have never felt so confident and amazing. It was worth every penny.
I think when it comes to your wedding day just accept that things are going to be expensive. You’ll never have this day again (hopefully)

I bought my bridesmaids dresses from EBay, Chinese seller and they were £23 each. The quality and the fit is brilliant. If you do buy second hand would definitely suggest getting a size or 2 bigger and have it taken in as you suggested. Then you can have it tailored to your shape and it will look fabulous and expensive. And this would be a fraction of the cost.
Alternatively you can do what i did and buy an off the rail dress which is meant to be an evening dress - i didnt mean to do this but it was just so perfect! This isnt always the cheapest option but i did get a beautiful silk and jewelled dress which, if marketed as a wedding dress, would have been about 3 times the price! And the quality was beautiful whereas a lot of wedding dresses are made of synthetics.
Good luck and hope you have the best day xxx
