Booking 2.5 years in advance, too early?

My partner and I are set on the church we want to get married in. We have visited a golf club for the reception which is beautiful, is booking 2.5 years in advance too early?!

Prices might be lower now than if you book in the future as well

Never! Do it and by the time you’ve booked and the day comes round it’ll all be paid and no debts!

We booked ours last year 2 years in advance. Honestly best option really. Get everything paid early and the months leading up to your big day won't feel as stressful x

I booked mine in October 2017 and I'm getting married in 2 months. It helps to have it booked in advance.

For me yes,I would hate to wait and plan for a wedding for 2.5 years. I'm doing it in 12 months and even that I feel is long enough but to get the venue you want I guess it makes sense x

Those 2.5 years will fly! Having that time helps you plan things and have more control on money so can have more bits that you want. Id say you have ideal time line xx

Sometimes you have to book that early because the venue will be booked up. We booked 26 months out and struggled to get a date on a Thursday May - September! Let alone a weekend...

We booked ours 2 years in advance. Just make sure you get decent wedding insurance just in case the venue goes bust!

We booked our venue January 2018 and get married July 2020. It’s definitely not too far in advance. X

It's never too early but please have a backup venue in case anything goes wrong. Our evening venue contacted us a couple of months ago saying they might be closing and we very nearly didn't have an evening venue because of the last minuteness of it all. So please keep in contact with all your suppliers if you start booking them early x

Take out wedding insurance to cover you for anything going wrong, like caterers going bust or hotels closing down. And if u r booking well in advance don't let it take over your life like some people do..they get consumed by it. It's one day! A special one but still ONE DAY. Enjoy each other and remember why you are marrying. Good luck and much happiness x

No we’ve booked ours and we get married June 2021 gives you time to plan, we are buying little things now and the big stuff next year so it’s less stressful

Wedding insurance is something too many people do without, so take that just incase. Booking in advance even by a couple of years is more and more common nowadays so I'd say if they'll let you book that early then go for it! Gives you a good timeframe to plan when you're going to organise everything else

Booking in advance means you can save for longer and get it in the contract the price is locked so no 'oh it's now this' conversations

We booked our venue last July and not getting married until June 2021! We couldn’t bear the thought of waiting and then missing out! Booked our photographer too for same reason!

We booked exactly 2 years in advance, venues do get booked up early!
It helps with thinking of how you want to decorate the rooms and tables too as you know what the room is like.
Our venue choice is also having an influence on the style of my dress, the maids dresses, bouquets and hair and even our catering so I’m glad we had that as a base for planning!

Rachel Doxey
Rachel Doxey 13 Mar 2019

No but make sure you don’t book your registrar to early , certain councils charge you twice if you book them to early but booking a church and venue is not too early but don’t do the dress shopping or buying yet , I recommend a year before
