Hi all. I’m wondering how people have collected cards on their big day? I’m looking at buying a metal post box and just decorating it myself as it will work out cheaper than buying one. Just wondered what other people used and how they were decorated or if you used another material for your box. Thanks
I just used a little open basket that i already had with a sign saying cards. No need to spend lots of money x
I had an old wicker picnic basket that I decorated to match my theme x
I ordered a personalised wooden one from eBay and then the front slides out and is replaced by a personalised lid to reuse as a memory box was a bargain too at around £25 x
I bought a cardboard post box for circa £15
I used a big vintage looking bird cage
I used a big vintage looking bird cage
We used a Lego box
But it went with our theme.
We used a table centre bird cage for ours - and I decorated it with ribbon and foam flowers :)
We hired a post box for the day! Xx
We bought this from Etsy - only cost £22 and is easy to assemble. Also great to keep afterwards as a storage space
I brought a cheap plain one and painted it myself as worked out much cheaper
I brought a cardboard one from pound shop just done it to my theme no one knew it only cost me a pound lol
I’m making my own postbox out of cardboard and papermache. Just need to decorate it now.
Cardboard one in home bargains & I decorated it myself
Bought mine from home bargains! Only a fiver, a carboard post box you can decorate yourself!
I bought a cardboard one from home bargains then decorated it myself, probably cost me about £8 all together not even that x
I'm hiring a metal post box Isn't costing much
We had the ikea green house with a 'cards' vinyl on the side.
Mini green house from Ikea
I bought a cardboard one from a bridal shop £10 and it was decorated according to the colour scheme of my wedding. Still have it now 3 years later not a scuff on it.
My grandad is making me a wishing well that people can post them into it 🙂 we will then use it in our garden after as a keepsake 🙂 x
We had a wooden crate with handmade wooden 'Cards' sign on the side. We had a rustic/vintage barn wedding so it went really well with our theme. Crate was around £10 from Ikea and the card sign around £8 and we can obviously reuse the crate!
Rental company in belfast had an old postbox for hire and a deal, £50 for the hire and they included a free guest book and wee advice slips. :)
A wooden box off amazon and made the bunting myself to put on it now use the box to keep our wedding mementos in
£3.50 crate from Waitrose and bunting from amazon looked lovely on the day! And better still cost next to nothing
We bought online a wooden box and had our names and the date engraved on it. We will then use it as a keepsake box
Ive bought a cardboard one from Home Bargains for£3 and my friend is painting it as the TARDIS
I’m using a big picnic hamper x I like the postboxes but I’ve been to weddings where some cards don’t fit in the letterbox so I thought a big hamper (I was given a fortnum&mason one a few years ago) would look nice and you can decorate it with bunting x
Thanks ladies I just purchased mine from ebay xx
These are all great ideas! X x
Hi I am renting a post box from the company ( perfect weddings ) for my wedding not too expensive and I don't have to worry about getting it there or taking it back
We've made one out of a shoebox and wrapped it in an old map.
Lol we used a table...
I've got an mdf one from Amazon, it's just plain wood so will paint it myself, was only £13.99 and looks good 😁
I bought a lockable wooden box on ebay or amazon. Can't remember which, then decorated it. It had a card slot in the top.
Bought one off notonthehighsteeet which was personalised and cost about £25 I think.
Home bargins one and took it to work and let my old ladies decorate it x it was hidous to look at by looking amazing as they had done it for me x
We used the bottom, plastic part of a gerbil cage that we already had (hardly used) and I wrapped it in wrapping paper - half Disney princess and half Marvel superhero’s
We had a metal bird cage. Think the venue supplied it. Xx
I just made this as didn’t get married here so made this for our wedding party back home bought cardboard post box and decorated it myself then x
A wooden box, H&M or Country baskets have good ones for good value x
We had a cardboard post box that we got from amazon, it just sat on the table next to the guest book x
We hired a wishing well x
Perspex box with a lock and post slot. Did the job!
We bought a metal victorian post box off eBay that now sits lovely in our conservatory. You can always think about hiring one too. Or if you did buy one hire it out yourselves after wedding. Xx
I’ve rented a post box for £30
You can buy a small wooden one and paint yourself. Only 8.95 on ebay...
We used a wicker picnic basket suitcase style
Hobbycraft has card board post boxes that you can decorate. I have one that i acquired from M&S where i work after a christmas display.
I haven't got a closer picture to hand but you can see it in the background. An old suitcase with bunting
Not my photo .... But I did something similar , found a vintage suitcase in a charity shop , got the washing line and spelt out " cards " ..... Brilliant at end of night as just closed the suitcase to carry the cards away so nothing got left behind by accident !!!! ........
Love all of these ideas! I was thinking of getting a metal one which locks. I’ve heard some stories where people went to collect the cards and they had been ransacked and things stolen so I’m cautious of that happening!
£8 crate from hobby craft & £5 ginger ray cards set
My granddaughter's decorated a post box with lots of messages I still have it
We got ours £6 from hobbie craft, my husbands mom & sister kindly decorated it for us. They also put some lights on it and they did a beautiful job.
