The venue I’m interested in is about a 30 minute drive out for my family. Should I be planning getting everyone accommodation or should I let them book themselves?

I'd let them book themselves. That way they can fit it to their own budget, and if they decide they don't want to stay, but would rathe r have a designated driver or split taxis they can.

Just give them all the options and let them decide, there’s enough stress without having to figure out other people’s logistics too!!

Definitely don’t pay for them. If they want to come to your wedding they will pay for themselves or make their own way there. Our venue is 20 mins down the motorway from our church we’re getting married in, we’re providing a bus from the church to the venue (only because we get it for free due to my partner working for the company)

Let them organise themselves, just provide info with the save the dates or invites about accommodation in the area. You'll have enough to organise with the wedding itself. Just maybe ensure parents/grandparents and wedding party get booked first in case there's limited rooms. 30 mins isn't far. Ours was in Suffolk, and hour and half from where we live and we had family travelling from Scotland and Jersey so I just gave them plenty notice so they could book it themselves before rooms got booked up with it being a bank holiday weekend. Those that chose not to stay organised their own way there and home. You'll get too stressed out if you try and organise people as well as the wedding x

Thank you guys for your responses! Will let them manage their own accommodations and cars etc. It’ll be too much stress figuring it out for others when I have all the stress of the wedding to deal with too lol! x

I’m getting married in Scotland as I live here. But my entire family live in Norway so they will be traveling. My partners family are also traveling from Australia. 30 min is nothing 😂 let them arrange their own stuff. Xx

My venue was 45 mins away from me, we had people come from 2 hours away and one from Holland. They sorted themselves out so so can everyone else!

Our venue is 10 mins from us, 30 for his parents, a flight from Ireland for my friend, a flight from South Africa for my uncle... let them sort it ! If they want to be there a 30 min drive is nothing
