I would ring the vicar up for the church you would like to get married at and arrange a meeting as each church as a different price list and offer different things x

https://www.yourchurchwedding.org is a good place to start. Generally if you’re not a church goer you can get married in churches in the parish you live in (the website will tell you these) without attending church beforehand. Other churches may require you to regularly attend for up to 6 months. Some will allow you to marry if there is a family link e.g: it is your parents church which they attend x

You can marry in a Church of England church if you can show that one of you:

has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months, or
was baptised (christened) in the parish concerned, or
is confirmed and your confirmation was entered in the register of confirmations for a church or chapel in the parish (this will usually be the case if you were prepared for confirmation in the parish), or
has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months
or

That one of your parents, at any time after you were born:

has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months, or
has regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months

or

That one of your parents or grandparents:

was married in the parish

Choose the church you want to marry in get in touch with them to arrange meeting with them to see if the date is available. The church will tell you what they need from you and you will also have to call the marriages register to tell them your planning on getting married they will give you a date to go in I think it’s £35 each person to do this. Our church is £640 that includes organ, vicar, and flowed in the church. But places are different so best to check. If you don’t normally attend church you do need to attend before the wedding a few times.

Look the best thing for you to do is go and speak to your local Vicar who will be happy to explain the process to you. In short you need a qualifying factor to marry in a church, living in the parish is enough. You need the banns to be read three months in advance, which is simply the vicar asking if anyone has a legal reason you can't marry. Cost is around £500. Info is also on the Church of England website.

And unlike some melt said you don't need to do a six week marriage course in Manchester.

We got married from picking the date to saying i do in 10 weeks our vicar said as long as the date was available it was totally possible. We went for the reading of the bans for the 3 weeks prior. We paid around £800 including heating because it was October and flowers, organ . My daughter was christened the same day. We didn't do any marriage course and everything went perfectly x

Speak to the church you want to get married at. The Church of England website will tell you if it is your parish or not. If not and and you have no connections to it, you may need to attend at least 6 months (once or twice an month) prior to banns being read. The connection only has to be one of you, so I attended for ours as hubby isn’t really interested, but wanted the church wedding as it’s what I wanted. Think the vicar only saw him twice before the wedding and one of them was the rehearsal! Good luck

We got in contact with the Vicar, went to see him and sorted the date. It was £400 and as it’s in church we do not need to go see the registrar and the bans will be read out in church in February for our wedding in March. Also there is no marriage lessons, only meetings we have is to organise hymns, readings etc
