Hi you have to register in the area where you live :)

Register in the area where you live and have them do the transfer forms

You have to give notice of marriage where you live, but the registrar marrying you will be from the district where you are getting married. We chose to get married at a venue in a different area, so we paid to secure a registrar, then they sent us all the details which told us how to give notice of marriage which is where we live. They then sent the notice of marriage to the registrar xx

I am from Derby but getting married in Alfreton. My registrar is from amber valley council so we have booked her with them but we have to do the "formal stuff" (the notice of marriage) with the council nearest to us so it is Derbyshire city council.

We paid to hold the date with the registrar in gloucester where we get married, then gave notice at our local registry as we live in Walsall. It was quite straight forward :) give your local registry a call and they'll talk you through it

I'm in East Yorkshire but my venue is in North so my registrar is from north. Ring your nearest registry office an they'll be able to advise you x

Google registrar in the borough you want to marry in. Call them and book your date. Then call the registrar office in the borough you live in and make an appointment to give your notice of marriage. You will have separate little ‘interviews’ and once done it takes 28 days to clear. Once cleared they will contact the registrar marrying you and will send over the transfer forms, then the registrar from where you are getting married will get in touch with your options ???? hope that helps

You have to contact the registrar office where you get married for them to hold your ceremony but you give notice in the town hat you live in.

The venue should tell you where you need to get your registrar from (We're getting married in Burnley but registrar is from Accrington).

Ring the office your venue tells you to ring to secure your registrar. They charged us £30 to secure a registrar, don't know if this is the same for every region.

While on the phone with them they should tell you (or you can ask) where to give your notice. You'll have 28 days to give your notice before you lose the registrar booking. (Our registrar is in Accrington but we needed to give notice in Preston)

Ring the office to make an appointment to give your notice. They'll tell you what ID and documents you need to take. They charged us £70 over the phone to give our notice (£35 each). You can both go together so they'll book you a double slot, or you can go at different times and they'll book you a single slot. If you cancel or don't show up they won't refund the £70 so if you need to change your slot make sure to let them know. Some places will let you book an appointment online, you can Google how to give a marriage notice in your area.

When you get there just make sure you have all your documents and don't worry too much about it. It's all routine questions, names, birthdays, occupation etc. The person who meets with you will have done it a million times and they'll talk you through everything.

It sounds complicated but it's just a bunch of phone calls and appointment making. Hope you figure it all out! :)

Go to your nearest registrar in the area you live in, do your notice of marriage with them and tell them you want to get married in Kent and they will send the paperwork to the registrars in Kent!

Hi all, so you only have to give notice where you live and not where you are getting married? I was under the impression that would have to give notice in both, so if only one then that’s a bonus!
