I am planning to have a family-style meal where there will be different salads, breads and meets in the middle of each circular table and guests can help themselves. Has anyone done this before and how can I make it look elegant?

Hi Sounds great just put the meats on silver plates and salad in glass bowls :)

I love that idea Lucy! Just hope there's enough space for all of the yummy food my family are prepping haha xx

That's what I'm doing. I think it'll look lovely especially if the dishes/bowls etc are pretty and tie in with your theme

How about small flowers in shot glasses dotted between the plates?

My friend had home made pate in different kilner jars etc with baskets of bread for a starter on the tablr for when we sat down. Then the meats, salads etc were laid out in a buffet style. Still felt really homely and people had food whilst waiting to get to buffet table.

We did this and it was fab. All we got were compliments about the meal. People passing dishes amongst themselves got them talking too and once all the food was on the table it looked amazing! (We had a small jam jar with flowers as a centre piece and no fancy add ons, otherwise no room for all the food!) I wouldn’t worry about it looking too polished, family style is rustic and that’s what makes it so good! X

Could use a wooden board for the meats, have it raised up on something and then the salads and other bits in little baskets or bowls
