My fiancé and I have been engaged for five months and haven't done anything. There's a few reasons for this including that I've just only got a job offer so budgeting is hard. However, I have been searching and searching since we got engaged for a venue and am struggling. We are realistic about spending quite a bit of money on the wedding but I also believe that it's possible to get what you want without going over the top expensive. Ideally we'd like to get married in the greater London area, or somewhere in Cheshire (his family lives there). But at this point we're actually open to getting married anywhere in the U.K. if it's a venue we love. We're looking for somewhere that has outdoor and indoor elements. We'd love to have the ceremony outside, and reception indoors, but with the option of having somewhere outdoors that guests can roam around during the reception. We are also legally already married (long story) so it doesn't have to be a place where they are licensed for ceremonies. Budget wise, the more affordable the better but I think the very max we could go is about £9k-£10k for venue hire, wedding breakfast, drink package and evening food. In my head, I'd love for that number to be about £5k-£6k if possible. Numbers will probably be around 80-100 people. I have seen how helpful people have been using this site and am hoping someone out there knows a unique place, or has a friend who runs a venue, or found an amazing deal for their own wedding, and would be willing to share. Sorry if this post is long, but it's been my experience that the more information you give, the more people can help. Thank you to all of you even taking the time to read this!!
I'm in the same situation so any help great ful
London shenley club. Its beautiful and staff are amazing!
We're getting married in a small village called Luss in Scotland, it looks over Loch Lomond and the venue is stunning. It has a patio and private beach and inside is gorgeous too. It's called the Lodge on Loch Lomond. We are quite outdoorsy people so this matches our personalities perfectly I know its miles away for you, but if you're open to UK options, it's a stunning venue. Best of luck!
We got married at a stunning venue in North Wales called Tower Hill Barns x there's loads of outdoor space and an amazing modern barn conversation as the indoor reception x
Im getting married August 2020 in Pangbourne, Berkshire. The venue is a hotel and we get married outside, have exclusive use, gorgeous inside etc. Ours came to £6k for 60 people during the day and 120 in the evening. Its called the elephant hotel and the photos do not do it justice!!
If you are legally married you can have your ceremony anywhere. My brother and SIL married at the registry office, then borrowed a field and a marquee. they had a celebrant do an outdoor ceremony then had a wedding breakfast etc in the marquee. Any venue with outdoor space will be fine to have it if it's not a legal ceremony, it's only legal marriages that have to take place in a structure in England.
Polhawn Fort is where we are getting married it was the second place we looked at and completely fell in love! It is in torpoint cornwall xx
With regards to your budget, when you find your dream venue ask about cancellations because they release these dates 3 months prior and you end up getting your venue at a greatly reduced cost. We saved thousands by doing this and trust me, organising a wedding in such a short amount of time isnt as stressful as it sounds xx
We’re getting married in Bridgnorth at a place called the mill barns it’s stunning!
https://willingtonhall.co.uk/ I’ve been to a wedding here, you can have the ceremony outside and I believe it’ll be within the budget you mentioned
Went to a wedding here www.alcumlowweddingbarn.co.uk/ outside ceremony, inside reception, grounds to wander and park for kids. Not sure how much or is though.
Were getting married at Kirkley Hall in Ponteland next to Newcastle Airport. We are spending about 4k on the venue. If your willing to travel that is xx
We’re getting married at aston Hall in Sheffield, outdoor ceremony in a pagoda and then reception in a room that has a removeable wall so it’ll feel like a terrace. It’s costing £3500 for the ceremony and reception including catering but that is on a Thursday, it’s like £9000 for a Saturday.
North Star club
Ok so it’s not quite the area you want but have a look at
The Old Rectory, Dunton, Brentwood. Essex
Easy accessible via m25 a127
We’re getting married outside but the reception is inside and ours is coming under 4500 for everything you’ve asked too :)
Have you tried a holiday inn package?
Kew Gardens would be amazing ! Or the sunborn London yacht hotel that's a bit different or if you want totally unique any of the crazy bear hotels are just incredible have a google they are wacky as .or if you want more outside venue instead of opting for a marquee you could go tipi instead they are beautiful unique structures can be really glamped up and you can get ones to seat 200 guests and fully lightened and furnished they look incredible . Rather than a marquee which is a bit Samie
Mansfield Manor (Nottinghamshire) had a bandstand for outdoor ceremonies, is quite intimate, has 14 hotel rooms and is set in a park.
Midlands is very reasonable for venue hire, I’m getting married in Coventry and for our venue, including ceremony, wedding breakfast for 100 people, evening sausage baps etc for 120 people, dj, dance floor, drinks reception, drinks with meal, room for bride and groom it will be around £6000, reduced rate on 20 rooms too. Also would be in the middle for most guests to get to.
We are getting married at the Rowhill Grange Hotel and Spa just outside of Dartford and Swanley (Wilmington to be precise). It's beautiful, has indoor and outdoor space easy to get to and everybody is super nice and helpfull.

We are getting married here. It is stunning and has gorgeous views of the lake you'd be looking at around 7k for everything.
Have you looked into Hilton hotels in the areas you want? We are getting married at the Puckrup Hall Hilton Hotel in Tewkesbury this November and they do an all inclusive package which includes everything...table decs, food, arrival drinks, venue flower etc down to a 2 tier wedding cake and for 50 days time guest plus an additional 30 in the evening it's £4000 (we are having more people so it's costing us just over 4500) but it's beautiful and they are so organised that I've so far had entirely stress free planning!
I am getting married at a church but having my reception at a sailing club because they don’t have a bar we are just buying all out booze and drinks in Asda or wherever has a good deal on then having a hog roast for 100 people and they are doing our buffet as well and that including serving staff for drink all in we are 3000 because rather than a dj we are just doing a playlist on I pod and hooking it up to sound system x
East Bridgford Hill in Nottingham might be worth a look!
Have you looked at Hyde Bank Farm in Stockport? Depending on your day and evening numbers it may be towards the upper limit of the budget, but is a lovely venue with a 17th century barn, a newly converted barn for the reception and plenty of outdoor lawns and patio area.
If you're already married (presumably to each other) then you're not engaged, you can't be because engagement is a formal agreement to get married and you're already married. You're looking for a blessing, and as such, these can be held anywhere. You could also look under ''humanist celebrations'' (humanist weddings are only legally recognised in 5/6 countries and includes Scotland but not England). Stationers Hall may fit your bill,as may Merchant Taylors Hall. Both are in Greater London
Try signature weddings in st James street in Liverpool
If you are looking around Cheshire have a look at Hilltop Country House in Prestbury. It's where I'm getting married. It has stunning gardens with the option to get married outside and also has a permanent marquee on site. The owners of the venue are also really helpful and friendly. I can't wait to get married there.

The Gardens in Yalding would be perfect for you! The price varies quite a bit depending on day/season. We're getting married there in June on a Thursday and are paying just over £7,500 for 60 day guests. That price includes the wedding breakfast, welcome drinks, 1/2 a bottle of wine pp, a toast drink, dj and evening buffet for up to 200. It's a gorgeous venue with plenty of indoor and outside space.
Orchard Suite & Oak Rooms in Maidstone do great packages which are well within your budget
Sefton park is beautiful
We are getting married and reception at channels in Essex. We're hoping for outside as they have what they call a church without a roof. It's a beautiful barn type venue and fits within your budget if you go for a weekday wedding which were doing and with 60 day guests it's around £6,000 for hire, food and drink. That is including the hire of the ceremony area. We are paying an extra £600 for a registrar but I assume you can get someone to 'marry' you for less if it doesn't need to be legally binding x
I know it's miles from you but Balmule House in Fife is stunning, they have indoor and outdoor options and you can book the whole house for the weekend yourselves and guests. It really is amazing and the staff are fantastic!
