My h2b and I are hoping to have a marquee wedding in August 2020. My mother has warned me that although it's summer, it will still be the UK and could still rain which has made me hesitant, despite it being my dream! Any advice?

It could rain or it could be sunny....just like anywhere in the world. And marquees are waterproof. X

I went to a wedding in a marquee a couple of years ago and there was a thunder and lightening storm with extremely heavy rain! You wouldn’t not have known, it was no different to being in doors apart from every time there was a roll of thunder you could feel it in the floor! Was brilliant! x

It could rain anywhere in the world anytime of year. If you two want an August wedding then have an August wedding.

We have chosen marquee for our reception Aug 2019. Would be nice if it stays dry but won't bother us! Go for It!

We got married August Bank holiday it was the hottest day of the year with not a cloud in site. My brother married on the same weekend two years earlier but it was showers throughout the day, didn't affect anything though. Just be prepared with an umbrella

Marquees nowadays are far better actually.

I had my wedding in a Marquee in July. U can get heaters for inside them but we didn't need them, inside was warm enough-even with a few showers in the evening! X

Go for it if it's your dream. I suggest heaters and umbrellas/wellies if guests would have to leave the marquee for the toilets or something. Just take precautions in regards to your site and hope for sunshine lol.

It’s your day do what ever you want as long as you are both happy that’s the main thing

Go for it.... if it rains. Embrace it!
Get a fancy personalised brolly/wellies just incase.. and have a photoshoot in the rain. X

These days marquees are much better, but if it's really putting you off, can you not look for a venue that has indoor marquees? I've seen some and they give the look and feel of a marquee without being outside. I would just go for it if it's your dream. We have booked an outdoor wedding for July next year, and if it's wet we'll dance in the rain. Xx

We're doing the same. You cant gaurentee the weather, ever. Just make sure you choose a decent marquee company and a location that isnt at the bottom of a hill. If it rains it rains!

Maybe have a marquee off of a barn? That way if it is raining then there is an inside area to keep warm? But most marques now are so good and have heating /electric in them so it shouldn't matter if it rains

We are getting married outside in a garden in September, if it rains we get wet as there is no indoor alternative at the venue! Hahahahaha wellies and brollies! we have a marquee for the evening party, so we can dry off in there! You can’t control the weather so I say just do your dream wedding, it’s the day you’re marrying your love so it won’t matter! I’ll be wishing for sun for you! Xx

When I worked at a wedding venue it was often like a greenhouse in the marquee, with guests rushing through their meals trying to get out if it's one where you can put the sides up and down it'll probably be fine! Get lots of white umbrellas in case it rains, could be quite cute!xx

If your hesitant about booking it in the summer due to a Chance of rain your never going to get your dream Wedding booked.
There’s always going to be a chance of rain no matter what time of year, why let the weather dictate you getting the day you want! X

We are having tipis. We actually visited them in the rain and wind and I side they were cosy and lovely. So even though I'm hoping the 25th August will be sunny this year. I'm not too worried as I know inside will be warm toasty and romantic

My wedding is ceremony is in a wedding pavilion ( basically a big tent 😹) and it was raining and blowing a gale the day I went to see it and inside it was like the Bahamas you wouldn’t have known it was raining ☔️

Sorry, I don’t get your point... the whole reason of having a marquee is so that everyone can stay dry IF it rains...?!? Have your dream wedding- you just can’t plan for the weather in this country...

WE are having marquees in July next year we asked this to the man doing them and he said he will make sure the tables are closer to the side that stays shut and we have clear window style shutters on the other side so if it does rain (fingers crossed it doesn’t) it won’t affect us anyway

Would a marquee not be waterproof? I say go with what you want but make a contingency plan. Buy some funky wellies and umbrellas so if it rains you can still get some good pics :)
