What’s everyone’s thoughts on taking his surname? We still haven’t been to register yet as we can’t decide on what to do about surnames. He keeps telling me I don’t need to take it if I don’t want but I feel like I want it but also I’ll be graduating and joining a professional body and building my own career and will have to change my name on the register to practice still. ukbride.co.uk

You do not need to make a decision on names before seeing the registrar. You can make the decision after you are married if you wish.
My understanding is that your wedding certificate is in your maiden name and you can then use that as 'proof' that you're entitled to use his surname and change it if you wish afterwards, so no need to decide before.
I would ask for advice, not 100% sure but ive heard of people that are married but use maiden name for work & married name everywhere else...
