£800 is a very good deal for a photographer. Don't forget you are paying not only for their time on the day but the hours they put into editing the photos after and then all the materials to go with it. My Dad occasionally does wedding photography for people he knows and I've seen the amount of hours he put in after to make sure he is finding the perfect shots and editing images. A lot of photographers charge over £1000 these days. I would recommend that you also arrange to meet with the photographer first to see their work and to check they are passionate about what they do and to endure you are comfortable around them. They will be playing a big role on your day so you don't want someone you don't think you can get along with.

Thanks for your advice I'm really chuffed with the quote and seen work online....think he would be perfect but Defo want to meet first as that's such a good idea.

Very good price. Ours is about that. Will be there from getting ready right up until first dance. So slot of photos will be taken. We met with 3 different before picking as that ended up changing out mind as to who our favourite was.

That's a very good price. A lot depends on where you are located. I totally agree about having to meet the photographer because you have to 'click'.

Hi this is a lot less than we are paying :)

We've booked a photographer for 800. Depends what you get for the price. We have 2 photos, 12 hours of photography, unlimited photos on us, photo album and a photo booth. Pretty good deal for us.

My suggestion would be to look for student photographers, some of them are just as good but cannot charge as much because they are still training and learning, if anything it will help them with their portfolio too. My friend is my photographer, she is a student and has offered to do it for free! Hope this helps!

I’ve seen photographers for 400 but that’s for 3 hours of pictures so depends how long you want them for!

Laura Blakey
Laura Blakey 28 Nov 2017

I would say that is a good deal but also depends on what is included and how good the photographer is. I have been told and read that if on a budget, the photographer is one area not to cut back on as the photos are what you have to look back on for years to come.

That is a really good price. I was looking at £1200 as the starting price until I was recommended someone who was just starting out x

Better off going with with someone who does this as a Hobby/2nd job. x

Have a look at big day productions, they cover the entire UK and have deals starting from about £300. I paid £700 and got 7 hours photography time, full printing rights, USB with all edited images, 50 small prints, 2 big prints and a photo reel of all the best photos set to the songs of the day. Our photographer was absolutely amazing and captured some beautiful photos and the customer service is the best I’ve ever received, they literally cannot do enough for you. Good luck x

Our photographer is costing £1600 so £800 sounds like a good deal to me ..

My photographer was £500 from morning to evening reception. I got a book, calendar, DVD and usb stick with all 500 photos on. It was all good quality and people say that you get what you pay for and i certainly will recommend him to anyone.

Depends what your getting, I personally think it's good, it's what I'm paying for ours, we get a whole day and every picture as well as black and white copies of every on top and printing rights. I was looking at load over 1000 but you had to pay extra for my more than 200 photos! And after meeting with the photographer we fell in love with her personality and style, so for us definitely worth it. Good luck with your search!

UKbride Administrator 29 Nov 2017

Personally I don’t think trying to cut back costs on your photographer is always a great idea as this is one area you definitely get what you pay for.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 29 Nov 2017

Photography is very much you get what you pay for, 800 is the lower end of average. My cousin emailed her local college and asked for a student photographer which was cheaper but they won't necessarily know what they're doing

It depends on your package. I have my photographer for £1300 but that includes 10 hours worth of photos, a usb and complementary prints. There is a lot more in the package.

I would meet with the photographer and see just what they are offering

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 29 Nov 2017

I'm both a photographer and a bride to be myself.

Do NOT scrimp on your photographer. The quality of their work, the amount of hours they're spending with you on the day, the hours of image editing afterwards, their equipment, travel and overheads, 2nd shooters and possibly physical albums are all usually included in the cost.

The standard of their work should be the biggest deciding factor in your choice. I've seen fellow photographers with sub-standard work charge £1000-1500 for a whole day.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 29 Nov 2017

I would say that was really good. What are they offering for that?

Caroline Larner
Caroline Larner 29 Nov 2017

It's a good price but check what is included in the deal - i.e. how many hours do you get, are albums included, will they give you all the photos from the day or just a selection etc. I would also suggest meeting with them as they will be with you before the ceremony and on one of the most important days so you want someone you can get on with!

Ashley Power
Ashley Power 29 Nov 2017

Go to your local community college where they do the photography courses and get a student that’s almost finished... you get a steal of a deal and they get work experience and they build up their portfolios so everyone wins!

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 29 Nov 2017

Be careful as often cheap photographers charge for printing your photos and you have to go to them to print

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 29 Nov 2017

My Mam is paying £1,400 which includes 2 cars also. And also includes album of 80 printed photos and the memory stick with the entire photos on of the day from morning till 1st Dance. Try get a package, it works out cheaper

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 29 Nov 2017

Without knowing any details, it's a steal. Just make sure you are happy with the style of photography and that you meet them in person if you can to build a repertoire and see how passionate they are.

That’s a good price. I have always said a photographer is something I won’t put a price on. Ours is quite pricey, but we have him and his wife for the whole day, we are getting an engagement photo shoot, a book, 2 parent books, a highlights film made and a usb stick too. Family have used him before and so has an old school friend.

Maybe try and find out how long it will take to produce your pictures? Or if they are a member of an photography associations like the master photographer association etc.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 29 Nov 2017

We paid about the same for all day and an album. We booked our photographer just in time, he has now put his prices up by quite a lot and charges extra for albums! He was fantastic though and is worth every penny of what he now charges so we were very lucky

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 29 Nov 2017

I would say that’s pretty good. We’re paying £925 for ours and that was the cheaper end of the scale. I was quoted anything up to £2200 xxx

Bethany Smith
Bethany Smith 29 Nov 2017

I'm looking at £800-£900for photography without an album. If they've included an album in the price then you can expect it to be above £1000

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 29 Nov 2017

What does this include? You need s quote for the price of taking the photos AND albums/USB etc. I know a lot of people who haven’t been able to afford an album

Emma Raisborough

This is a good price as long as you like their photos! It depends what they are offering for that as well. No doubt that you would be able to find cheaper - but in general I find the cheaper someone is the less experience and quality they offer when it comes to photography

Hazel Cottrell
Hazel Cottrell 29 Nov 2017

Depends who it is, what they are doing, how long they are there for, what you get for your money, how much experience they have and so on.

Rae Helm
Rae Helm 29 Nov 2017

Very good price! A photographer spends 12 hours with you on the day and then works for a couple of weeks making all your pictures look their best giving you a truly lasting keepsake of you day. Photography is not somewhere to cut back.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 29 Nov 2017

Seems like a good price but make sure you check the quality of their work (Any priced photographer), the last thing you want is poor quality photos of you amazing wedding

I recommend shopping round finding out what packages they offer most can do to your budget. I recommend Gracy who is a fantastic photographer and great prices

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 29 Nov 2017

It's a good price - do you get the images on a USB stick in a presentation box AND a log in to their website to access all the images within this price? Are the meetings included - usually it takes two meetings to nail everything that is going to happen during the wedding day, and when the photo opportunities will be. There might be some questions like these you need to ask to avoid lots of add ons later? ps our price is better and you'll get two for one www.jiphotographyforalluk.com

You certainly get what you pay for with photographers! My friend is an award winning photographer & all round awesome person & the amount of images she’s had to try to “correct” due to cheap photographers is sad!

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 30 Nov 2017

A good wedding photographer will visit the couple at home at least once, then the wedding venue (s) and again with the couple for a preshoot, start planning weeks before the event. On the day that will be on the go from 9am to 10pm often with no break at all and all while carting around £6-16K worth of professional kit. Editing and compilation of books, web pages etc... can take weeks if not longer. A good photographer will also have an idea when then have enough images to wow you with later... if the weather, events, timing mean they haven't got all the images, they will know how to make up for this so even if you don't get that sunset shot you wanted, they will be imaginative enough to thing of another stunning shot. The skills is as much in the organisation of people and knowledge of the venue as it is in actually taking the picture.

All this whilst holding in their heart how vitally important these images are to you and your loved ones... it's is in my experience more stressful than actually getting married. So yes £800 is dirt cheap.

And never, ever, ever ask a wedding photographer or videographer if they can do it a bit cheaper.... what do they have to cut back on? Less tiers in the cake, a few less flowers on the tables... no the only thing that have to cut back on is energy and enthusiasm for YOUR wedding... you were the ones that said we think your worth £200 less than all the other clients....

That's a really good price!! Having said that though I had got an awesome deal for mine we booked him at Birmingham wedding fayre and we got him for £495 as it was a deal at the show usual price is between £1500_£1950. I checked his work out and reviews before booking whilst walking around and his work is amazing but I think unless your going to wait to go to a show and see if you can get a better deal of stick with that because that's a really good price x
