Our wedding is at 1:30pm and we then go to our reception venue which is booked from 3:00pm and we are inviting our 'evening' guests from 3:00pm until midnight. Hope this helps.

I have been to a wedding that started at 4pm. But all the guests were there for the entire thing. I used to be a wedding coordinator and if you wanted to start at 4pm I would suggest the following timetable (assuming you are getting married and having the reception in the same venue: Guest arrival: 3.30pm, Ceremony: 4pm, Drinks reception: 4.30pm, Dinner: 5.30pm/6pm (you generally need a 2 hour slot of dinner and speeches): Evening guest arrival: 7.30pm/8pm, first dance & cake cutting: 8.30pm. I personally think 3pm is the perfect time to have your ceremony - it means the day isn't too long but also your not rushing everything. If you are having a church wedding I would suggest going for an earlier time otherwise it will be too rushed.
