My dress arrived 4 weeks late and I now only have 2 weeks to go until my wedding, but it doesn't fit!

It is too small and the sleeves are so tight I can't move my arms. The shop made me take the dress home there and then as they don't do alterations, but adv I speak to their recommended seamstress which I can only get an appointment with on Saturday. In the mean time I have had an independent dressmaker look at it and she had said they won't be able to alter the size due to it's style and that it is too small.

I was measured when I ordered it and since then I have lost weight so I was expecting it to be too big, not too small. I can get the dress fastened but it is extremely tight across the back and I can barely breathe. I don't know what to do. I honestly feel like I am going to have a nervous breakdown as I have no time to get a new dress sorted out.

Does anyone know where I stand legally? I would never have bought a dress I had to diet to get into, as that's just not me. If I had put on weight then it would be my own fault, but I haven't.

do you have any evidence of what your measurements were when they were taken? if you can prove the dress is not to those measurements i would request a refund that way you can find an alternative dress x

I agree with Nicole, you should definitely check any paperwork from the shop, especially if it can not be altered due to the style and shape.

You could be protected under the consumer rights act 2015. Under the Consumer Rights Act your dress must be as it was described to you, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose.

If you order a dress and the material, fit, or shape is not as you had been told it would be then you should be able to reject it and get a refund within a reasonable time.

If you’ve bought your dress from an online retailer you also have additional rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations.

You can choose to reject the dress any time from the moment you place an order to 14 days from the day you receive it.
