Ditto that! Although I'm in Hampshire everyone's either too expensive or not able to do what I want! Such an important part too isn't it x

I must be lucky I've found both hair and make up very easily, I personally wouldn't want one who does both, would possibly be rushed and even earlier start than that of two people and to be honest I think if there a hair dresser then they might only have a small amount of training in the make up and vice versa, so id rather have a fully trained/experienced stylist and MUA and have separate xx

Are you after 1 person to do both as not sure that's a great idea.. you need someone who specialises in each one as they are very different.

I've got one person to do both but the pics of her work look fab and she seems very professional and has such a wide range of experience, so I feel fully comfortable that she will do an amazing job. Also want a very simplistic natural look so not actually too worried that her work wouldn't meet my 'standards'. I personally think one person will be easier and less hassle than having 2 xx

I found mine via bookface as a school friend used her for her wedding hair. Mine also does both, she's been doing bridal make up and hair for 12 years and has an extensive portfolio so was quite happy to have 1. Plus I only have 2 BMs so we can start at 9 for a 3pm ceremony :)

That's the thing as well, my bridesmaids aren't having their hair and make up done professionally so it's just me that will be requiring it (maybe my mum although I think she just wants one or the other done, not both). Seemed silly for me to have 2 people just for myself. If all the girls were getting their hair and makeup done too I would have gone with 2 people xx

It is difficult... I've been looking/ stalking on fb make up and hair artists but no one really appealed to me.. to be fair I'd happily do my own make up although I'm worried I'll be too nervous / excited on the day and my hands will shake so it may not end up looking good

Also as I'm having 3 bridesmaids plus my mum, I'm wondering if 2 people will have enough time to get us ready for 12pm without us having to get up ridiculously early??

I'm slightly tempted to get those semi permanent lashes put in as I know I'll be crying a lot so I am worried about smeared make up /panda look by the end of ceremony

Booked mine last week. Really pleased as her portfolio looks amazing and she trained in America and has worked on films. Feel very lucky to have got her. She's doing both, along with hair and make up for sister and make up for my mum. She did say she would have an assistant.

I found her by googling mua in Sussex.

I found a MUA really easy (friend of a friend) and the trial was brilliant. She's only costing me £50 an hour and said it shouldn't take longer than an hour. BMs are doing their own make up.

But hair is causing me a right issue. The salon I use gave me a quote of £360 for me with a trial and 3 BMs. I nearly died! I know they need to cover their time, but I was expecting at least 100 quid less than that. So now using FB and found one that looks good from Windsor but can't get a date together for a trial and I don't want to book and pay deposit, then have the trial in a few months and hate it. X

How did anyone choose their hair and mua?

I've g00gled and fb searched and found a few but I don't know how to approach making a decision .. The trials aren't cheap so I don't want to just try them all and the photos tend to all look the same. I'm going to post on fb a bit closer to the time tk see if anyone can recommend anyone but other than that I don't know how to approach it!

Think I'm going to get separate for hair and make up since there'll be 5 of us to do and I don't want it to all be a rush - is anyone else asking mil if they want to come to get their hair and makeup done or leaving that to themselves?

I just chose mine based on first impressions. I researched a lot of them in area but never got a 'feel' for them if you know what I mean. When I came across the website of my MUA and hair stylist I was impressed as it looked professional and she had lots of good pics on there, and the price was reasonable. When I spoke to her she also sounded like a lovely person so that was me sold :)

MIL will be doing her own hair and makeup - if she wanted to get it done professionally then IMO that's up to her to sort out. My bridesmaids are doing their own hair and make up too, will only be having my hair and make up done professionally and my mum will probably have one or the other done, but not both. I gave bms the option of having it done professionally but said if they wanted it they would have to pay as it's not in the budget, but they're totally happy with doing each other's. Will also have fun having trials with them nearer the time!

Clealry I am the one doing her own makeup. LOL.
I'm penny pinching and I know that I will only wind up correcting it anyway.
But I never though about my BM, hmmmmm, perhaps she'd like a make-up artist.

I had another wedding dream last night relating to this! I was waiting for ages for my MUA and hair stylist to turn up, she was soooo late and I couldn't get hold of her. I didn't have her number to hand so I was using my phone to browse the net for her number but I couldn't use my phone, and when I was typing letters totally different and random letters came up! So I got soo annoyed and threw a hissy fit lol. She finally turned up but she did my hair totally different to how I wanted it!!! I think I want a sophisticated chignon style with a vintage looking hair slide, but she'd literally just left it all down and curled the whole lot, really tight curls that made look like a 12 year old! I was so upset!

Wedding dreams becoming much more frequent now....

MrsC2Bee and LadyC - do you ladies mind recommending the MUA and hair stylists that you both went for in the end - I am now attempting to find someone that is not massively expensive or too cheap (if you know what I mean!) and struggling!
