    I'm in a bit of a dilemma.
I originally said i wasn't going to have a chief bridesmaid as I wouldn't be able to choose between my two best friends.
One of my bridesmaids was at my house the other day and i was showing her my wedding shoes which have a ribbon which ties around my ankle, her mam said I wasn't tying it right and my friends said well i'm her chief bridesmaid ill be able to help her on the day, not once have I said she is my CB.
When i've told people they have said you will need a chief bridesmaid as they will need to sign the register.
Do i really need a CB or can I get someone else to sign the register, I really dont want to have to choose between them.

Anyone aged 16 or above can sign regardless of bridal party, relation, friend or anything so that's not true at all! Choose who you want :)

Also, if she's going around telling people she's CB/assuming she is, you might want to have a word and nip it in the bud NOW before you get issues later down the line!

No problem :) Believe me, telling her now will save you problems further along the line. Imagine having to deal with these right on top of your wedding, not something you want to do trust me!

We are going to ask our mums to sign the register. I have 3 bms and they are all equal so no chief or moh and they know that. Definitely tell her asap before things escalate. X

I'm glad other people are in this position! I'm having three bridesmaid too Kirsty, my half sister on my mums side my best friend from school then my best friend from work and I can't choose between them because technically my half sister is closest to me but is under 18 so would struggle to organise cb things.. My dilemma is that the top table has one of my bridesmaid on which sense would say that's my sister because her parents will be on the top table too but her partner will be coming so she'll want to sit with him or he'll be on his own and then my best friend from work is single so I'll probably need to pop her on the top table so she doesn't feel uncomfortable .. What are you planning on doing for your top tables?

Our top table has us, both sets of parents, the best man and one of our bridesmaids. Our other bridesmaid is sitting with family members (personal situation needing management) and she's happily sitting away from the limelight anyway but this is what works for us which may not for you. You could always consider having just a sweetheart table for just you and your hubby or maybe the top table is just the bridal couple and bridal party with parents elsewhere? x

yes anyone over 16 can sign your register so just pick someone else instead of your bm's

RebeccaC398 why don't you mix your bridesmaids and grooms party in with all your other guests (this is what we are doing) so its just me h2b and our kids on the top table a lot easier that way

    I have 4 bridesmaids. Their ages are 26, 25, 14 and 10.
I was thinking of having my two eldest bridesmaids on the top table along with our parents and best man.
The only thing is the 14 year old BM is my future sister in law so im not sure who i will sit her with as her parents will be on the top table. My future brothers in law will be there so i guess i could sit her with them and some other guests from my H2B's side.
Im having trouble with the seating plan as some people dont get along with each other which is frustrating but it happens in every family :/.

yep probably one of the biggest things a bride has to deal with, I did my table plan and was happy with it until my mum saw it and complained she didn't want to sit with my grandparents so I had to do a shuffle around but make sure my dad and his wife is on the opposite side of the room too

Rebecca, you could always give each one an extra job on the day so one on the top table, one signs the register and one does a reading.

We will be having our parents on the top table. Not sure about best man yet as we also have a best woman who is doing the speech but then that makes it very heavy on my OHs side. X

Seating plans are going to be a nightmare!

I've got the top table to contend with and my mum hates my dads guts and his new wife who also isn't speaking to his dad (my granddad) who is invited then my step mum wants my dad to walk me down the aisle but my step dad is the person who has always been there for me..

    I see ww3 coming on!

I asked my aunt to sign the register. I thought it was a nice role to give to someone important to me that otherwise didn't have a role, and we are very close. Plus she has no children so won't be mother of bride or groom ever. I had two matrons of honour who were good friends with each other, and worked naturally as a team. However as one lived in Cardiff and one didn't the Cardiff based one ended up doing more, and being slightly senior on the day. Maybe you could tell your friend who thinks she is chief bridesmaid that you plan on splitting the chief bridesmaid role up so that you can give everyone the jobs that suit them best.

You need two witnesses to sign the register. Normally the bride and the groom each choose one person. The bride and groom sign as well.
