Hi there, having used the wonderful uk bride forums previously for my wedding in 2012 and knowing how useful they can be I am now posting on behalf of my friend who is planning a wedding very quickly for September this year. She is on an extremely limited budget and I wondered if any of you ladies were in the same boat and how you have managed to find your dream dress? She has been looking at going down the route of an online purchase shipped in from Hong Kong but I am worried that this won't end well? Please do let me know of your experiences if you yourself have purchased from online distributors that come from abroad bad or good. Also any other ideas of where we can look for her. She isn't at all adverse to buying a secondhand dress but she has limited time to be driving around the country to different ladies houses to look at probably many dresses, if anyone knows of any good secondhand bridal shops in the Lincolnshire area I'd be also grateful to know, similarly any discount warehouses that are good. Really, any ideas would be welcome. Thank you very muchly in advance xx

First thing I would do is go to local bridal shops and try on dresses as they feel different on to what u think ur like n nothing worse than ordering a dress and not liking it. Then once she decides on the style and maybe even likes a particular dress I'd go on gu**ree and bayofe and even book face pages to see if anyone is selling that dress or similar and if no luck the li*htintheb0x is Chinese site but gets a lot of good reviews and I'm told as long as u measure correctly then they are fine ( but read reviews on specific dress as will give u head so up whether its nice and if needs to order bigger/smaller :)

There's "she who cannot be named", she is based in the UK and has great designer dresses and charges about £200 each. If you want, I can pop the website on your wall.

I shall bump the China dress thread for you.
I ordered from a china site for my bridesmaid dresses and they were brilliant. Also might be worth checking the bay.

There was a second hand wedding dress shop in Lincoln called Th3 Br1dal R00m, in The Mall off the High St but I'm not certain if its still there. Could be worth a look though. X
