My Fiance and i have our wedding all organised and began so we could have it this year because his father is extremely ill and now predicted to live to see next year and we really want him there, but my fiance also lost his job before christmas so we have joined a funding website to ask friends, family and generous strangers if they can help by donating even as little as £1. Every little helps towards making our dream come true.

You can't post links on the forum! This sort of publicity is for fb and the like.

I think maybe it is ok to ask family members to donate small amounts to help you, but not so sure strangers will. It just seems strange to me.

I'm not sure about asking strangers to donate either.. I would keep it between close family and friends. Seems a bit off asking people you don't know for money to make your dream come true. Everyone has dreams..

Have you thought about maybe just having a small blessing instead? Get the legal side sorted out at a registrars and then have a blessing with his Dad present? Family can maybe bring food/drink. Then if you're still wanting the big ceremony renew your vows in a few years when you've had a chance to save?
