    Hello everyone,

Getting married in 8 weeks on New Years Eve. But need help at the minute. We were going to have a meal after our ceremony that is happening at 3:30pm on the day and the reception doesn't start till 7:30pm. We are going to have our photographs taken afterwards, but we are only having about an hour. We have decided we can't afford to supply for the meal. We haven't got a clue what to do between the hours of 4:30 till 7:30. Does anybody have an idea, as we had to change our plans, and suggestions would be grateful as have been thinking and it's not getting anywhere.

    Thank you in advance.

What food are you providing? Is there food at the 7:30 reception? If not you could still have food, but ask guests to contribute dishes for a buffet. Otherwise maybe you could provide some entertainment, like games or guests doing performances. You don't need to account for all the time, both you and your guests will be grateful for some time to just relax with a drink.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

If your ceremony's at 3.30 that'll end around 4, then u will have 15-20 minute of milling around before photos, I don't think they'll get started til 4.30 nearly personally,if you're wanting an HR of photos, that takes u to 5.30... Bit of talking and couple of arrival drinks and wham its your evening?x

Like Kel said sounds like timings sound fine. If you're worried about cost of food between photos and evening buffet then look into cheap options like crisps, nuts, bread sticks, olives etc as a light snack with welcome drinks and whilst you're mingling with your guests. If you have a receiving line that'll take half an hour too.

We only had the one meal at ours as well, we married at 3pm and they said we would not sit down until 6 for the meal as the ceremony was held in the room the reception was being held in, so they had to change it around. I was going to get those giant lawn games in, but was leaving it until the last minute in case of bad weather. Turned out lovely so could of had them, however, honestly, the time from 330 until 545 went so quickly, the guest mingled as did we and before we knew it time was up.
