Hi guys! I don't know if there has been this question before..but I was wondering..'Besides mentioning your own Weddings, what Weddings have you been to that have really stuck out in your mind for being great, and WHY?? I want to hear stories of beautiful moments, special little touches, fun things they did, great entertainment ideas you never would have thought of, original ideas they had, the LOT!
I LOVE hearing people's opinions on Weddings AFTER they've happened, to see how well all the extra details were received!

The last wedding I went to was my auntie's and it was beautiful. She didn't have long to plan it - I think she did it in about 4 months? It was lovely though and she paid great attention to detail which really made the whole day. There wasn't a big 'WOW' stand out moment but the whole day was lovely as you could see how much thought and time went into planning it to make it perfect xx

The best wedding I went to was last year.

My oldest friends. She planned it all in 6 weeks. It was in Monaco!
Other than that, it was great because of how relaxed it was. The setting was beautiful, only about 50 people...but the one's who mattered. The food was amazing (buffet but sooo fresh).

I also just got back from a wedding in Cyprus, again beautiful setting, small but simple.

I think it's the simplicity that made it so great. Weddings don't need all the gimmicks and hyper expensive stuff to make it great. Good food, music, and the people who matter. (although gorgeous scenery helps too)

I think it depends on the people really, each wedding is deemed the best, we had a very laid back wedding, music of different eras, and just generally had loads of fun. Everyone said they thought it was brilliant. A year before we went to a friend's which was different, but equally as fun

I think it is the atmosphere that makes or breaks a wedding. It doesn't matter about all of the extra little bits, as long as everyone is having fun and enjoying themselves and there is a laid back feel to the day the wedding will be brilliant xxx

It's the happy couple and happy family and friends that makes a great wedding if all those attending are having a great time it creates an amazing electric atmosphere that people will remember. Glad to say we had all that and more which made our day truly memorable.

Also the day should be unique and individual to the bride and groom, we had little touches like colour scheme decor and favours that made it very personal and unique to us. The best weddings I've attended have been the same, unique and personal to the bride and groom to set it apart from other weddings.

I agree that the day should be unique and individual to the bride and bridegroom. We're lucky that we have a very unique reception venue (a goods shed at a railway museum). I also think it's the little touches like favours, flowers and decorations. We went to visit our venue today and had already decided we would just have bunting up, until the lady that's looking after us suggested putting fairy lights in the compartments in the carriage that we're having pulled up in the goods shed. My Sister also suggested having jars of sweets in there. We would never have thought of decorating the actual carriage but it's things like that, that will really make our day stand out and hopefully unforgettable for our guests. My Stepdad has also offered to pay to have the miniature railway running for an hour or so, for our guests to have rides so nobody gets bored. We had decided not to have that because it was quite expensive. OH's Sister and Bro in Law arranged a fly past (Bro in Law has a pilot licence) as a surprise at their wedding in April. It certainly got people talking!

I also think a good atmosphere makes a good wedding. I've been to weddings where the atmosphere has been awful for one reason or another. When we went to my Cousin's wedding a couple of years ago, the atmosphere was so bad my Gran wanted to go home within 10 minutes of arriving!

Seeing how happy the bride and groom are is a big plus. I like to see a bit of a gap between the two meals ( if you're having a breakfast and evening food, as a friend of mine had too short a gap, literally an hour so a lot of the evening food went wasted), a friend had a magician, that was fantastic also.

I think it comes down to how personal it is. The best weddings I have been to have been where the bride and groom have done it their way.

I saw a link on the book of face about considering the single people. Didn't look at it if I'm honest but you might get some ideas from it x

^^ good point. I thought about this whilst completing my table plan. We have some single friends who are confident to mingle, but we have others who are pretty quiet. We were also conscious of not looking like we were seating people to "match-make" lol
