    Hey ladies,

I already bought my wedding dress as it was such a bargain. I got it a size bigger than what I am so that I had some material to play with.

I started dieting a couple months ago and managed to lose 1st 6lbs but lately I have been so stressed and have not stuck to my diet.

For those of you that have/had dieted for the big day, how have you stuck to it?

And does anyone know where I can get something to go underneath my dress to 'hold it all in!'

    Thanks x

i think gok wan does something or other that holds you in....

Im afraid you just need willpower really, an eating plan might help too. Don't buy crap, if it isn't in your house, it won't tempt you. you could even consider shopping day to day, only getting what you need when you need it, if that is practical, of course

I can't eat when I'm stressed, so I have the opposite problem, my dress is in danger of being too big and with 5 days to go, im screwed if ive lost too much weight ):

Thanks ladies. I know I need more willpower. I use to be a size 10 and run 4 times a week before I had my daughter. Then I ballooned up to a 20 after. I put myself in a vicious cycle of feeling miserable so I eat. And then im miserable because I've put on weight!

Velcro, I hope your dress is ok for this week. Good luck! X

Aw bless you. I know exactly how you feel! I'd also been good for a while and then just lost all motivation. In the past couple of months I've really watched what I've been eating and going to gym classes. I know it's hard but try and use the stress as motivation for a gym class if you can. I've done that with Bodycombat and it does do a good job of de-stressing. I'm also recommend using the my fitne33 pal app - I really like it! Good luck hun xxx

This sounds really corny, but I taped a photo of me at the size/weight I wanted to be in the kitchen as 'thinspiration'; every time I looked at it I remembered why I was dieting, and knew it would be worth it.

Otherwise, the thing that worked best for me was a calorie counting app. I sent it to average 1500-1600 calories a day; some days I eat less (eg 1200), others I eat more (eg if I'm going out for dinner/drinks I might have up to 2300). I lost weight steadily this way, and the best bit was that nothing is 'forbidden'; it's not like other diets where you have points/sins etc; it's just straightforward calorie counting. So, if I fancy a chocolate bar or packet of sweets, I simply scan the barcode, and that's it; it gets taken off my daily allowance. I also like that you can input any exercise into it; knowing that a brisk walk to and from my local pool and a 30 minute swim burns off 340 calories (which gives me enough 'extra' calories for, say, 2 glasses of wine) really motivates me, and so I fele healthier all round.

I would also buy just limited amounts of 'treats', and it's also good to plan meals eg in my weekly shop I'll make sure that most of the food I buy is healthy, and low in calories; but I'll also throw in a couple of treats because I know I'll crave them otherwise and then overindulge eg my supermarket does 3 small packets of sweets for £1, so I'll buy those, and make them last the week (whereas before I could easily get through a big bag of H@rib0 in one sitting (which is approx 600 calories...))

I kept thinking of the wedding photos and how I wanted to look in them, as they are the things that I will look at in years to come. I stuck to a sensible eating plan of 1400 calories, and 30 minutes daily exercise. I did find that I lost a little bit in the last week, with all the stress and running around, even though I was eating more. I didn't fill out the dress quite as well as I had at the final fitting a week before, but it was still fine.

cant have it further alterered now, there are like, 14 underskirts and all embroidery from the bodice on the skirt so it would be a huge job. Im just hoping for the best now, really!!!

Thanks for all your input girls.

Becky1608, id love to get back to the gym. But I work full time and get home at 7:30pm every night. Then I spend the next hour sorting out my daughter and getting her into bed. I need to get myself motivated in the mornings. I usually get up at 6am. Think I neec to get up at 5:30 before h2b goes to work and get some exercise in.

Barbie86, I like your inspiration photo idea. Think I may have to try it.
