I have booked an appointment to go and try on dresses. I am so excited! I'm taking my mum and one of my bridesmaids with me. Is there anything I should be aware of? Any advice will be appreciated

stay within your budget u have alterations to consider after!..

i say task the sales ladies for advice and to maybe pick something for you. they are very good at their job my dress i walked straight passed it and even said no when she pulled it out but she was adament i tried it. so glad cos i bought it. i have another payment to make tomorrow and she can officialy order it but little early so itll br paid off by time she does order i x

Try different styles on,even ones you wouldn't usually go for, you never know you may go for something out of the blue. And also wear good strapless white bra and wear hair how you may want it, up/down, that way you get more of a feel to :) x

also if your mams out like mine be prepared she wont sit down she wont shut up she will faff with everything puttin stuff in your hair pointing things out lol

took my sil to an app i had to try dress with belt i bought to make sure it worked and i said to her well mam was quiet this time so thx for comin and she was in shock "that was quiet?! she never bloody sat down" haha

take a clip with you then u can see hair up or down what it looks like. if u want s veil try a few on 1st one i hated 2nd time i went i bought a veil cos she oicked a different one out haha

TAKE YOUR SHOES that way u get a better feel or how u stand in the dress. shoes make all the difference and also givws u time to find new ones if u change your mind. i took a pair first time and hated them with my dress so went onto the bay and got a new pair 12quid they r amazing

i agree totaly with trying different styles on providing you stay within budget :-) as i said i didnt like my dress on the hanger it wasnt what i was going for!

I am open to trying different styles. I have actually printed off a couple of pics of their dresses that I would like to try but will also try any they show me.
My taste has changed since last year and the style I have in my head that I want may be the opposite to what I end up with.
I don't have my shoes yet but have some black ones that I would like to get in ivory as I love the style and the heel isn't too big so I may take them with me. My budget is 700.

I have been dress shopping twice and so far no luck but what I would say is the most liked dress and style is something I kinda liked before but put into the no cat of my mind so try a few styles on as some you may of thought no way could actually be the one :)

Somehow always connected , finally became friends .

Thanks Bethan. I always think that a dress can look totally different on than hanging up so I'm definitely not going to write any off without trying them on.

MidgetGem if I can find a dress under 700 then happy days, I just refuse to pay more than that :)

I'm on a really limited budget, so I am actually looking at bridesmaid dresses for mine, in ivory. They're much cheaper than wedding dresses yet most of them are just as gorgeous. (Well they are in the style I'm after anyway!) I agree though, the most important thing is to stay within your budget and enjoy trying the dresses on and making your mum cry!

Had a fab day today. Tried on a few dresses and there was one I quite liked but I was still unsure so we were just about to walk out of the shop when my mum saw one on the rack and said "ooh I like this one" so I decided to quickly try it on not thinking much about it and OMG it is the one. It's not what I thought I would go for but I love it and I didn't want to take it off.
I have found my dress yay!

Flossie, it's definitely the one. I tried on a few dresses and didn't get the feeling with any of them that I got with this one, I couldn't stop smiling and saying I love it and I didn't want to take it off. Half way through trying dresses on mum told me she was going to pay for my dress which came as a complete surprise. She has put a deposit down on it :) x
