My fiancé & I want to make sure that no guests post any photos of our wedding on the actual day to any social networking sites. After the main day is fine but we just want our day private to only family & friends.
Any advise on how to tell people this? We thought about perhaps writing a little line in the invites? Any suggestions welcome!"

    Thank you
    Sally x

you could put in a request such as

We know you will take some photos
to remember the day and look
    but please share with us
before uploading on the face of book

    uploading photos on the internet
we know you love to share
but please do us a favour
and show how much you care

send us copies of the moments
    you caught without us knowing
    before your post to Facebook
to keep our wedding memories flowing

or you could ask people to only upload onto a weddingsnap app, and not share on fb.

Hmmm difficult one. It took about 30 minutes after the ceremony I think for pics of our wedding to start going on FB.

we got the registrar to ask everyone not to post any pic to book face until the following day and no one did. Mind you think it helped thats the registrar was my sister but I think if you ask nicely people will respect you and won't

My cousin gets married next month in Cyprus, she's asked in the invites that guests don't post pictures as they'd like to put the first one up themselves. They've asked that guests send the pictures to them privately and they will post them once they've seen them.

I think everyone will respect this.

Personally I'm looking forward to my guests sharing the photos, as often some of the best pictures are the naturally captured ones that the professional often misses.

I'd prefer ppl to wait til the evening as a lot of our guests are evening only ... So would like them to see my dress firsthand rather than earlier in the day on Facebook x

I hadn't really thought of this but glad someone has brought it to my attention. I will definitely be insisting that my guests dont post any pictures of our wedding on any social network. Not until the day after at least.
Those poems are a really cute way of saying it

It's a good point actually. I mentioned it to OH but he didn't really seem to think of it the same ways us. I think I would probably have to mention it on fb first so that the majority of guests were aware if our request and get the registrar to remind them on the day. It's a respect thing I would say.

I think I'm going to ask the registrar to say something beforehand as we're going on our honeymoon 2 days after the wedding and we'd rather people send us the photos first. I hate the thought of them going online on the day!

We asked guests not to take photos during the ceremony, as for us, that was the part we didn't want sharing randomly on social media; plus we wanted to see people's faces during the ceremony, and not a sea of cameras/phones. Our ushers told guests as they arrived, and the registrar made an announcement too.

After that, people did take photos but no-one posted them until 1-2 days after. I think it's difficult to 'ban' people uploading them on the day full-stop, though I think it's fine to request that they don't post any of you and your OH. You could also make sure your settings are set so that you have to review tags, and photos won't just appear on your page (which will slightly limit who sees them). I would also hope that people will be too busy enjoying selves to be uploading photos!

I have seen some ideas where people have created a website or a private 1nst4gram board for their wedding guests to upload photos from the wedding. That way you will be able to see all the photo's that your guests took and until you want it, none of the photo's will be uploaded onto any publicly visible social networking site. Or you could just get some disposable cameras and ask that your guests only take photo's with them? We are going to be going with the disposable camera option but will still probably have the odd one or two guests who will take photo's on their camera phones anyway x

I've been thinking the same thing, my FMIL is very snap happy and I know she'll want to put pictures on fb. I was thinking about using W£dp1cs, it's an app where your guests can upload their photos and then you have all the pictures in one place and can share them when you want to. The poems are a good idea as well :)

My cousin included a poem in the invite and just got the ushers on the day to remind everyone as they got married in Italy and didn't want anyone back home to see dress etc as they were having a party when they got home.
We are doing a hashtag thing so we can make an album online before official pics are done and I am expecting the crazy pics from friends to be in this one lol

I've just downloaded w3dpics to havea look and it's actually really good! You can use it from stag/hen to as they have preset albums (which you can change) it goes from engagement to honeymoon. It's a bit like its own fb feed of your whole wedding planning. I'll defo be using it and asking my guests to download it nearer the time :)

I do want them on fb too, I just want us to be the first to post pictures then everyone else who has pictures can too.

Kind of like newborns. If you had a baby would you want to disclose the first picture with name, weigh etc or somebody else? Thats how I think of it :)

I made the mistake of not doing this, and wish I had. As a result I had to message people on Facebook asking them to remove them.

I never thought about this! I think the only people at my wedding that would upload to FB are MIL and SIL's so may just ask H2B to tell them not to until the evening as I don't want my evening guests to see my dress or the decor until they arrive. You could speak to close family and ask them not to and put a FB status up the day/ day before the wedding asking people not to? Or like others have said get somebody to mention it during the ceremony.

We are going to ask that no photographs are taken during the ceremony or when the photographer is doing the official group shots, we have organised an I-spy camera game for the guests for them to upload photos to FB so we get different types of pics on there as well as keeping them entertained. My H2B and I are both photographers so we're kind of expecting it, and we have lots of photography 'things' gong on throughout the day anyway!
