Hi ladies, well it's the 25th July... Meaning I get married one year today!!!! :)

I have been scoffing my face with as much rubbish as possible all week because I decided that today, with a year to go, was gonna be the start of the diet. Now, I'm a size 12 and have already bought my dress so don't want to lose too much weight, but ideally would like to be a 10. This diet is mostly for being healthy and toning up a bit. I currently go to the gym and couple of times a week and I also swim, but I eat too much junk for it to make any difference! Just wondering if anyone can give me any diet tips? How do I get away from my chocolate cravings?? Any recipes I could try out? :) and good exercises that really work?!

    Thanks in advance

    Shannon

I LOVE my chocolate and this is one that I struggle with giving up. I do find however if I limit myself to 2 finger kit kats I can manage. But yeah I am 16 days away from my 1 yr mark and I will be doing the same. I currently do the gym 2-3 times a week but I can't do much at the moment because I underwent hip surgery 7 months ago and still in recovery. Swimming seems to be my next bet and walking. I walk to work (2miles) 3 times a week as well and this seems to help but like you I need to cut the cr@p too.

I have found that reducing portion sizes helps A LOT. Last time I was losing weight I used a specific dish which only fit what I needed not what I wanted and I felt fine. Don't watch TV either while eating as you're brain isn't focusing on you eating and so you will not feel full until your stomach groans. You need to be aware of what you're eating and you will find you will be full faster. If you have waste don't feel guilty thats a good thing because you're getting to know you're true stomach limit.

Join a Slimming World group. They are fab. You get to eat loads and still lose weight. You get a daily syn allowance which can be used for treats or in your cooking. You can have between 5 and 15 a day and Curly Wurly's are 6 syns . I put mine in the freezer and suck on them for ages. Great for a chocolate fix :) I have lost 3 stone and now at target where you get 3lb above and 3 lb below your target weight for a balance xx

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

I think my main trouble, as Victoria mentioned above, is portion sizes.. I sometimes go over the top with portion sizes (unintentionally most of the time) and I feel awful about leaving anything on my plate, so I will eat everything even though I don't really need it!! Getting a smaller plate to encourage smaller portions is a fab idea.

I also try and stick to the Slimming World philosophy of having 1/3 of your plate made up of superfree foods - so vegetables/salad. Eat lots of lean meats and fill up on potatoes, rice, pasta, etc. instead of eating rubbish!

I would give yourself 1 treat day a week so that you can have a bit of what you fancy - you won't feel the need to have a binge sesh then as you won't be depriving yourself xx

I eat healthily, it's the exercise that is my problem. I go through phases of doing absolutely nothing and I balloon :( I recommend finding a gym class you really love, them it doesn't feel like exercise :)

Another thing I have started doing recently is going on the 'Tube and looking up Zumba videos. :)

I am a huge fan of Sh'bam, similar to Zumba but I find it a lot more fun :)
