Did anyone shop for their dress in a department store such as Debenhams or John Lewis? How was the customer service and what happened regarding alterations etc?

I looked in D3b3nh@m5 and BH5 but didn't like anything. I also tried the b3rk3rt3x concession in h0u53 0f frA53r on Oxford Street and tbh found the customer service abysmal.

I went to the Berketex in debenhams but didnt like it.The dressses were way over my budget and it was really formal and inpersonal. The staff were okay, i dont remember the service being either really good or really bad.

I got my dress from Berketex in Glasgow and the whole place was great, the staff were so friendly and really made me feel at home. I guess it depends on where you go :)

I went to berkertex in maidstone nd was completely ignored. Didn't even get greeted. I also went to monsoon on a week day and carried a dress right past the till and got ignored too. Think it all depends on each store xx

I got a second dress from C0ast, I got it altered by the same seamstress that is doing my wedding dress. They were lovely in C0ast they have actual wedding dresses and the store in Edinburgh only had sample sizes so you would need to order the correct size in. I can share a bad experience from Berketex, I went to the one in Watford and she saw that I looked young and didn't take me seriously at all. I kept getting negative comments regarding my weight. I walked out will never go to the branch again.

My friend did the same, got hers at a lovely Outlet in Leicestershire, but they have others in Bolton and London. Similar to that of a department store, cheap and good quality.

I got my evening gown from my work online (I work for T3sco at the head office in Dundee doing paralegal) and they had this dress online for £80 but with my employee discount and a money off coupon I got it for £62.

I found the same design of dress (and I mean exact same design) on D3benhams as well for around £152 in Red, Orange and Black.

When i was looking the 1st time around (we've postponed twice) I went into a local bridal shop and saw the sale rail. The prices were a good range starting from £50 upwards. My sister got her wedding dress from the shop also (her dress cost £75 when she got it Dec 2013) and was a stunning dress from Romantica of Devon called Nevada. It was from a previous collection, but as soon as she saw the flash of colour (dark grey colour) she was in love lol

I got my dress from bhs last week. I found the dress on pinterest first but it didn't say where it was from. So I put it into google images and it came up with bhs. I was amazed! Anyway, I decided to buy it a few sizes bigger as need to get my 34EE's in the top half and get the rest altered to my body shape and get it customised.

I got my dress from Berketex in Coventry and they were lovely and patient; I also got my bridesmaids dresses from there; I guess it just depends on the location and different stores :S

By accident we found a Berketex yesterday whilst dress shopping and I have to say the staff were helpful friendly even when they had to deal with me who had no actual clue on styles or could give a budget amount lol
I did try department stores mainly for ideas however not one had anything I liked for me so sticking to actual wedding shops for dress but may try department shops again for something like flower girls and page boys :)

we got my daughters from B3rk3tex and although they were helpful at the time , when we went to pick up the dress they were very unhelpful and couldn't get rid of us fast enough - think it was due to them giving us a smaller dress size which we didn't realise till a few weeks later...

I got mine from an outlet place in Hornsea ( they also have one now in Beverley ) and the staff were really helpful even when I went in a few weeks ago with my dress in a panic that it wouldn't fit they couldn't have helped more. .

I did see some lovely dresses in m0ns00n and d3b3nhams but would have to say the staff just treated me as a normal person trying on a frock rather than a bride to be looking for that one special dress.
