    Can anybody help?
My partner and I have a huge family, our booked venue for the hole day doesn't have a license to hold the ceremony outdoors and the guest allowance for the ceremony room, hasn't room enough.
I have read up on this matter but am unsure if the information is correct,
I read that the ceremony can be held outdoors without license, as long as the register book is signed indoors and with agreement by the venue.
Please help! Is this information correct?

No weddings can be held outside but must be on some kind of structure, like a gazebo etc, with something under your feet and over your head. Im getting married under a gazebo outside.
Approval will not be given for open air venues, such as moonlit beaches or golf courses. Generally, the premises will need to be permanent built structures, although it may be possible for approval to be given to a permanently moored, publicly open boat

I agree with Lana I thought the actual 'venue' had to be licensed. Where I'm getting married the Bandstand is licenced but given the unpredictable Welsh weather we're firmly indoors!! Wold you consider getting married quietly the day or 2 before (i.e. legally in a Registry Office but only seeing it as a formality) then having a wedding celebrant to 'marry' you outside. Most people probably won't notice the difference and it would mean you could you really personalise it with your own vows etc...?

Probably your best bet is to do the legal bit inside with just the witnesses, and then repeat it outside for all your guests. Either that or start the ceremony outside, go indoors with your witnesses to exchange vows and sign the register, and then come out and exchange your own personalised vows. Could you set up a webcam or something to let people outside see what's going on inside?

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

The girls are right the venue must hold a licence for an outside wedding ...... It's not just signing the register that is deemed the "legal bit"
