Hi all I am getting married august 2016. We have the church and reception booked but no deposits paid yet as reception is at a family friends marquee and church to be paid 2016. Wedding dress I have now got along with my wedding shoes ( I know it's 2 years away but fell in love with them straight away and new they were the ones). We are having a butterfly theme so I've found some ivory balloons with butterflies on (in the sale so couldn't resist) these are to put on the centre of the tables at the reception :-) x

We have talked about colour schemes, I have nearly chosen bridesmaids (question over stepsister!) and we have 2 venue open days coming up.
It will all fall in to place. We found our venue and loved it and managed to negotiate to an almost affordable price so we booked and then just started to crackon with everything else x

Hey! I'm 2016 too, in April. We've booked and paid off our reception venue and church, booked photographer, band and cars. Sorted out prices for kilt hire, cake and rings so just deposits to pay for those. Oh and one of my friends might be doing our flowers. Going to look at centrepieces and decorations this weekend. It is soooo exciting!! It won't be long in coming round now either :) xx
CommentAuthorMrs M Wade
Blimy AshleighW951 you've done a lot of planning. Wish I had all mine sorted too x

I have to say we've been really fortunate to have a lot of support from our families and since we've been together 10 years we kind of knew what we wanted :). Enjoy every minute. I also recommend getting a wedding planner (not the person, a book) and writing down stuff or cutting it out and sticking it in. Xx
CommentAuthorMrs M Wade
Both of our families haven't mentioned the wedding other than its 2 years away :( never mind contributing towards it x

I'm getting married September 2016, you guys are super organised! Anyone we speak to is all 'that's very far ahead to be booking bla bla bla', I feel better knowing other brides have booked early! So far we have booked the church, in the process of choosing a reception venue (we have two more to look at but I think the first will win) and I brought my dress as I just fell in love with it! I also have my ring as its going to be my late Nans ring and we just need to go and see the ring he thinks he wants in the shop! x
CommentAuthorMrs M Wade
Hi llewis233 congratulations :-) you'll be addicted to coming on here before you know it haha. I've got my dress too, I got it in January. I just knew it was the one when I tried it on :) fingers crossed for you finding a reception venue :-) we booked ours in January as it is a family friends marquee-very posh with chandeliers and drapes it with a lake surrounding it :) just got to sit down and talk prices. We get the same as you 'it's 2 years away why are you doing this, that and the other' :-( annoying as I want to get excited but feel like I can't x

Well this weekend gets better...my grandma has been over to stay for a few days with my mum and dad (long story short she hates parting with anything especially money) she has given me the money for my wedding invitations. They were in the sale but loved them as soon as I saw them and can also put my little touches on them :-) so thought so what if the wedding is 2 years away I can't not get this bargain so I bought them lol (or my grandma has now bought them) x

Fiance and I decided on the venue a while ago (aiming to have that booked by end of the month), we've sorted the theme, one of his groomsmen has offered his wife's cake-making services (with her approval, obviously!), I'm scouring sites looking for dress ideas as I think I'm gonna have to go custom-made, decided to design our invites and rsvp's ourselves and then take a finished draft to a printers, I have a great table-gift/favour idea if I can just work out the paperfolding...
All in all, we're a little ahead of where I thought we'd be - guess being currently unemployed makes it easier to just sit and put ideas out there!

August 2016 here as well! We have provisionally booked the venue & will pay deposit at end of month. Will also book church this month me thinks. I am dying to try on some dresses but thought it was way way too soon but after reading this thread maybe it's not.......?
CommentAuthorMrs M Wade
Never to soon :-) have you got a date in august yet? Good luck with all your planning :) x

I will officially become Mrs Magowan on 18th August 16! Excited doesn't even begin to cover it! Ha so I'm worried that I will just get completely carried away & do everything way too early like pick a dress which I'll then hate come the time! Ooh it's all very confusing... To wait or not to wait hmmm lol

Our date is 18th June 2016 and so far we have just booked the venue, the registrar and put a deposit down on the DJ for the reception. My dad is sorting out the photographer (he is a photographer himself so has contacts) when he comes back from his holiday.
We have looked at ideas for everything else and know what we like and what we want, but we are going to wait until we have been to the National Wedding Show in October before we decide to start buying, just in case we find some awesome ideas!

HI. We are getting married April 2016. So far we have booked the venue (we're getting married there as well as the reception), booked the registrar and the photographer. I have started to design my own invites and am hoping to get some of these finished and handed out at a family get together in November..this year!!!
We've also bought 14 large birdcages for the table centrepieces, which will have fresh flowers in them.
Also I thought for wedding favours, mini Douwe Egberts coffee jars would be a nice touch. I've ordered personalised stickers to go on the front and we are going to put vintage sweets in them. However drinking enough coffee to get 50 empty jars is a task in itself!!!
I'm enjoying It all so far. I love writing to do lists and crossing stuff off when I've done it!! :)
Oh and I have my dress!!!
I'm glad I found this site. There are some great ideas on here from everyone :))

Hi. We are getting married June 2016 and so far have booked the church, venue, car, sweet buffet and harpist. We have talked about it for the last 3 years so have everything written down in our wedding planner. We are going on holiday soon so not sorting anything else out until after that, other wise we won't have any holiday spending money left! Is it too early to send out save the date cards yet?

Katie I would send save the date cards out about a year in advance, within invitations then about 6 months before.
We have decided not to send save the date cards out at all as the majority of people already know when the big day is at it's going to be close family and friends only.. Think we will just send the invitations out a bit earlier. So for the June we would send them out November/December time 2015 xx

I'd say it's too early to start seriously looking for a dress - look at pictures and get an idea of what it is you like, but bear in mind there are going to be new styles and collections coming out between now and then xx

Thank you MrsP2Bx. This is what I thought but then saw some people had done it already but I'm going to wait until next year. I also agree that it's too early to start looking for a dress as I know I would probably change my mind after seeing something else I like as I wouldn't be able to resist looking. I have printed lots of styles off the internet that I'd like to try so when the time comes I can take them with me and see if the shop has any similar. xx

I'm getting married in 2016! Just confirmed our date which is the 5th of March (4th of March is when H2B proposed so its a special date for us). Paid deposit on venue which was £500 and we have £1600 left to pay but comes with DJ but they also set up the venue and I don't need to do a thing! Hooray! Our colour scheme is navy blue so trying to choose bridesmaid dresses but may get them in the January Sales :) We have our rings too! H2B's great grandparents wedding rings :)

Yeah I wouldn't hang around with booking the venue - we booked ours just over 2 years in advance, and they'd already had a couple of bookings for 2017! If you have the deposit now then I would just book now to get your preferred date.. Once the venue is secured you can always wait a while before booking or sorting anything else xx

All you ladies sound super organised! I wish we had our venue booked already, we had decided to buy a house before we got married - but have recently changed our mind because of things that have happened, so its now wedding first. Hoping to get married in early May 2016 and have been to see 2 venues so far, got 2 more to see this Saturday (cant wait :D ). We have a rough guest list and have got a wedding notebook which i have been writing down any ideas we get as we go. Don't think I'm going to go wedding dress shopping until may/june next year. My mum is making our wedding cake but I'm designing it, I would make it myself (as I make cakes part time from home) but know it would be too much pressure lol. Hope all your plans are coming along swimmingly. xxx

We are July 9th 2016 (hopefully) We have had a meeting with our potential venue who are currently figuring out costs for us (they dont usually do weddings) I have ordered a million invitation samples, picked our colour scheme, booked a meeting with our vicar and thats about it..
I want to be super organised and start paying for things but were saving as we go so cant do much until the ISA balance rises :(
Really excited to go dress shopping, does anyone know the best time to dress shop? Im not fussed about past season fashions, i am a self confessed bargain hunter and refuse to pay full price for ANYTHING! lol.
Good luck with all the planning everyone, throw some ideas my way, this wedding planning malarky is rather confusing ;) x
31st October 2015.. Can't wait!!

For bargain dresses I recommend liking local bridal shops on the book of face, as they usually advertise on there when they are having sales etc. Shops I have been in always have a small sale area of some sort, wouldn't hurt to ask! :)

For wedding, everyone start their planning from years, this is the life's big event that happened to the persons life. There are many works that has to be done properly without which the wedding looks incomplete. The things which one has to take care of is decoration, venue, and food.
