Getting married July 2015- and I've been told by a bridal shop 2015 dresses do not arrive in shops to December. Any one think this is very late for sorting a dress for the following summer? Am I just going to have to accept a 2014 dress? Anyone any information?
CommentAuthorMrsCross2be
I dont think it is late as long as you get straight out there looking. I have known brides still looking up to 4 months before. Check with the shops you like how long it takes them to get dresses in after you order?!

I don't think you'll be ''accepting a 2014'' dress, to me it doesn't matter what year the dress came out.... also I imagine most people end up in dresses that are technically the year before.
It might be a bit of a risk to wait for the new dresses, as I've heard most shops suggest about 8 months to order and alter a dress, but if you really want a 2015 dress I'm sure they could rush it through for you, but you can't guarantee you'll find a 2015 dress you love.

PS I am having mine made and although I chose it October 2012 she only had me for my first fitting to take measurements in Feb for an August wedding. x

I'm just confused as to when the 'new season' dresses arrive in. And don't really want to order right now incase it's too soon but also know I don't want to leave it until after Christmas! I'm happy to order a dress that's in store now if it's the one I like once the new ones are in. Worried about ordering, then stunning dresses arriving in the shops!
I was worried when I got my dress because it was the first shop I went in and it was a case of you had to buy it there and then if you loved it so much, as the chances are it would never be in stock again (being an outlet) and couldn't be ordered. It felt like a premature buy, but I have vowed myself to not look anywhere else I case I end up disappointed if I found something else.
I would say have a look round for now and try some on! If none of them blow you away after trying a few different places then maybe consider waiting for the new season.

The shop I think I'm getting my dress from has some new dresses coming in this July, I have found a stunning dress which I love on me, it makes me look amazing, I'm going to try some more on next weekend and then that again, if it still feels as great as it first did then I will put my deposit down (I get married next August) I don't think I'll see another one I'll like as much as you really don't know how much you love a dress until you try it on yourself, some of the dresses I thought I would love looked awful on me and vice versa.

No it doesn't really matter what year it is once I find one I love. I just haven't found it yet and realistically want to know when the new season dresses arrive as it might be one of those that catches my eye. I'm not very girly girl, dreaming of dresses from a little girl so I just actually don't know what kind of dress I want. Open to all options and years!

I've been to 4 shops so far. With nice dresses, some of which just all look the same to me. Only thing I've discover is the 'big' dresses just don't suit! :)

I wouldn't worry about not finding one you like yet, just keep looking. Don't settle either, sorry from your original post it sounded like you didn't want to go for a 2014 dress just because of the year. There will be a new collection for each season I would have thought and each shop will be stocking different designers, so just keep looking at different shops. You know the big dresses don't suit so at least you can narrow it down by not looking at them now. Maybe speak to some of the ladies in the shop about what you have liked and what you don't like, try a few on and tell them what you like and what you don't like and they might come up with something perfect for you.
That's how I found my dress, we liked one dress which had a lovely train, then I liked another which made my figure look amazing, but we weren't happy with the back of the dress, the lady brought be another one after listening to us talk about it and that one made my figure look even better then the first and the back of the dress looked just as beautiful as the front.

Sounds good. No not at all; I just meant by 2014 dress- like do I have to pick from what is out there. Or will there be time to wait for the newer dresses to arrive just because there might be a different style for me to choose. I'm not snobby about the age of the dress- it's the amount of styles to choose from. I don't care if it's '2015' or 1970s! I've tried on some original vintage as well. I just am wondering when new styles will arrive in stores. So I can plan some trips to shops!

I think your better off speaking to a few different shops, like I say I know the lady I'm thinking of ordering from has posted on facebook about getting new dress in this June or July. I think it's odd that you've been told new one's won't be in until December, seems like a long time when they release dresses for at least Summer and winter, which would suggest new dresses at least every 6 months.
If it does come to it, Dec or Jan should be okay to order a dress... I'd just worry you'd be cutting it fine in case you still couldn't find one you were happy with

I think it depends on the designer and when they are releasing new designs.
i know that the shops around here had new designs from 2 designers end of Jan begging of feb. I'm sure there will be more released throughout the year.
After 7 years and 11 months he proposed to me 18.10.13

try some more shops, every shop has different designers and most shops only has 4/10ish designers each, so there are plenty out there, when you try ones one, take note not of the whole dress but aspects of it you like/ don't like that then you can say to the shop ladies, I like this but not this and they may know one which has everything you want, take pics, so you can show to other shops you go to say I like this kind of bit etc.

I'm getting married in June this year, and I went dress shopping in jan. My dress was 2014 collection and had just arrived in the shop. I say it all depends on whether you want a classic style or not. If you do, then it doesn't matter when you get it xx
