We're getting married abroad in June and it's mainly just close family coming, so we are having a party at a social club the month after we get back, like a sort of second wedding reception and I'll wear my dress again, etc. Now that I've finally been organised enough to pick a date and book the venue I need to start thinking about the venue decoration etc. I'm just wondering, would you normally have chair covers etc for something like this, or would you not bother and just have it a bit more informal, and just stick with balloons and stuff? Really not sure what to do! Thanks for any advice xx

It's totally up to you It would save you a small fortune if you didn't My auntie got married abroad and had a party at home and went all out It was nice as we didn't get to go to the wedding they also did a little speech and played their wedding on a projector so everyone who missed it kind of didn't it was lovely :) like a proper wedding all over again xx

Oh that's a nice idea! Hmm yep just been looking at to be honest, could do without the cost of chair covers etc! The food is already costing more than we though. I love the idea of the wedding playing on the projector though. We don't have a videographer but I'm wondering if I could get a slideshow of the wedding pics being shown continuously or something...

Yeah a slide show would be nice too, It's just something nice for the people that won't be there :) Xx

When you get knocked down; smile and pick yourself up again!
Fight for what you believe in!
I would have whatever you want. Do you want a very fancy posh do or a more relaxed informal feel to it?
Also it'll depend on how much you want to spend and can spend on it. Definitely go for the slide show.

Personally I would go without chair covers. It's an added expense that you don't really need but then it depends how formal you want the reception to be.

I'm not really wanting it to be that formal so I think I'll leave it, thanks for the advice! I'm wondering what other added touches/extras would be nice so could do with some advice on that but I will start a new thread :-) thank you xx

A display table would be lovely with your wedding photos and maybe some bits left over from the wedding day like the favours.

We're having fitted cotton covers (not the stretchy lycra things), and sashes. We don't need them as the chairs at the venue are beautiful, but my fiance wanted them

I personally wouldn't bother we are only having them because of the ceremony and wedding breakfast

It depends on the chairs and your budget if the chairs are pretty new and not stained or tatty looking I wouldn't bother if they are worn looking and clash with the room then I would cover them
