My dad is making our wedding cake toppers but he seems to be ummm'ing and ahhh'ing a lot, showing me these really rubbish figures on H0bby Cr4ft and the bay of e... The site I found makes absolutely aaaamazing ones and I was going to use them but got quoted £200 !!! My mum said dad could make them and he is so crafty and handy that I didn't doubt that at all so I drew up a picture of what I want and took photos off that site to give to him... I asked my mum to ask him if he really wants to do it and if he's really going to put the proper heart into it and he said of course but I don't think he gets just how perfect I want them...

I am trying to find a book on making the characters to inspire him but I just cannot find one that concentrates on wedding'y type figures..... Does anyone know of where I can get one ?? xxx

Yup I did that in the beginning but he still went on bay of e and found all the pants ones instead.. I explained that I wanted it as detailed and lovely as the ones on the site and he said well it's just a base but it wasn't just a base cause its face etc was still already moulded and they're really cartoony, and the ones I found are more 'serious' so to speak... xxx

Hmmm I'd really explain it to him what you really want then Hun and tell him you want it really detailed.... Maybe the money he would spend on making one e could donate to u for the expensive one if u put the rest in? X

Have you thought about looking up tutorials on the "tube of you", fimo clay or any clay is quite hard to do finer detail unless you had practice or experience, so asking your dad for something perfect may be a large call, especially if he hasnt done clay before, buy him the supplies needed and ask him to make some in advance so you can see how he would do them, may ease your mind or at least give you both chance to talk about improvements. :)

He's worked with it pretty much all his life, but making aeroplanes and cars, so he knows how to work with it and add the detail.. He's pretty much a professional modeler, he has quite a following in the modelling world, people send him model kits from all over the world for him to make them up and send them back to them..

I know he can do it, I emailed him a link to a book and he said good idea and finally said he won't use the pre-made figures :-D woop !! X
